Exfoliating on your face?

if i'm trying to get even skin tone and get rid of my spots...should i exfoliate everyday.. if not how often?

and also does an exfoliating face wash work with just your hands or better with a loofah?

Thank You..I'm 14 btw.Exfoliating on your face?
dont exfoliate everyday its bad 4 ur skin as it scrubs away too much skin and sometimes leaves little scratch marks !

exfoliate twice a week and apply moisturiser after and apply with ur hands its bettah than a loofah because a loofah is to rough on ur face

HOPE THIS HELPED ??Exfoliating on your face?
Ooo don't use a loofah on your face! Too harsh for delicate facial skin. Try using a gentle facial scrub/wash (Neutrogena do a great one for example) every day and work it into your skin in circular motions using your fingertips but rinse off with a soft facecloth and pat your skin dry with a towel. It'll take a while to see results but it should help to even out your skin tone.

Hope this helps :)

Is exfoliating too drying to your face???

Is it too drying to my face if I exfoliate every night and lightly exfoliate in the morning?? I exfoliate only at night right now but I think I want to start doing a light exfoliater to get my face nice and soft for my makeup. Would it dry up my face even though its a light exfoliation or what would you reccomend to use in ithe morning??Is exfoliating too drying to your face???
If you exfoliate your skin, you should always use a moisturizer afterwards. In fact, it is best to only exfoliate once a week unless a professional tells you otherwise and always moisturize afterwards. The moisture will give your skin a nice soft feeling and keep it from getting cracks in it (dry skin is actually cracked skin which can lead to more wrinkles down the road). They even have moisturizers for oily skin.

Tip: Never exfoliate before getting waxed or going tanning as this reveals new skin cells which can burn easily. Is exfoliating too drying to your face???
You should only exfoliate once or twice a week because it is too drying/damaging to your skin.
exfoliating should only be done ONCE a week, otherwise it will scrape off your skin's natural moisture and cause dryness.
after you exfoliate use mousturizer. for sure its very important.

How do you exfoliate the face with a loofah..? 10 points!?

I heard that this evens out the skin tone and gets rid of dead skin cells.

What I want to know is how do you do it?

Do you HAVE to use a sort of facewash?

Isn't their a homemade natural remedy?

And can I just exfoliate with just water and the loofah by lightly scrubbing my skin with the loofah?

Please help! Thanks! How do you exfoliate the face with a loofah..? 10 points!?
actual face soap gets under the skin and clears it more. i suggestnot using a lofa cuz its might damage your skin. instead get a face scrub or sometimes just sugar and baby oil does the trick if you just wanna get rid of dead cellsHow do you exfoliate the face with a loofah..? 10 points!?
If you are going to exfoliate the 4 heads at Mt. Rushmore then a loofah should work just fine, but it's much too harsh to use as a facial scrubber.

A better plan? Go to the cosmetics counter at a Nice Department store - and stop at one of the full line skin care counter sections -say Clinique' or Aveda. Many stores actually have stylist charis set up and beauticians will give you a free treatment using their product lines, plus a free gift, just for allowing them to give you a demonstration. Best time to go? Tuesdays %26amp; Thursday mornings at about 10:00 AM., or 2:00 in the afternoon.

Homeopatic ';natural'; potions? You can make your own homemade exfoliating soap from a mixture of Saponified oils of olive, palm, coconut, soybean, shea butter, purified water, essential oil of Lavender, oatmeal, glycerin, and Vitamin E. The finely ground oatmeal is the main exfoliating ';scrubbing'; agent. I find that it's much easier and CHEAPER to go to the local Farmer's Market, and buy these fragrant home-made exfoliating soaps there. They are very inexpensive - and the variety of exquisite fragrances is usually incredble. As an applicator , use the same make up removal pads that you can buy at any Walgreens or CVS.

So what are you waiting for sweetie- go get that scrubbed fresh rosy cheeked look on.
Oh, oh, stop! Do not apply the loofah to your face. What did your skin ever do to you?

Try an exfoliator (one that comes in a bottle) instead. It'll cause less damage.

How do i exfoliate my face?

im new at this, lol.

but today i baught a St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

%26amp; a brush like this http://www.skindeepiii.com/Facebrush.htm

----------------------------

do i exfoliate with hot water or cold or warm?

do i do it after i wash my face or is that like inplace of washing my face?

how many times a week should i do it?

----------------------------------

i dunno, help me out here! How do i exfoliate my face?
Oh you got the best kind! It's perfect: ok,

so what I suggest is wash your face with it once a day, even if you're wearing makeup, it will take it all off anyway. I do it with relatively pleasant very warm water and rub moderately rough on my skin to really exfoliate and open all pours. then, once you wash it off, wash your face with COLD wate againr; this will close pours, tighten skin, and feel really good. Then, put on either gentle toner, lotion, or whatever your routine. But I only exfoliate at night because it leaves your skin pretty red for a little while, but when you wake up in the morning it will be SO smooth and silky! Trust me.How do i exfoliate my face?
lol wow, never use anything on your face besdies your hands.

thats what causes your pores to get all screwed up!!

i love that scurb, i just got done using it :)

well i use it every friday, after i come back from school i take off my make up with my clinique foaming cleasner (it works amazing) with cold water, and then i make the water warm, splash my face a few times so my pores can open up and i put about a dime size of the scrub in my palms and i rub them together and then i start rubbing over my face GENTLY in a cirucular motion. since this scrub has walnut shells it basically does all the ';hard'; work for you! and then as im rinsing off the scrub im rubbing it off with the water as i spalsh my face and then after its all off i use cold water to close my pors and then moisutirze my face :)

i used to use this scrub everyday but theres really no use of using it everyday, so just use once a week!

hope this helped!
hello! i know how to solve this! first of all, warm water opens your pores so warm water.

secondly, wash in the mornings and at night or whenever you take your shower.

third, start off with 4 times a week.

this stuff works!! you can find it Walmart or CVS whichever is more convienent. :)) http://www.prestoimages.net/graphics08/648_pd212997_1.jpg
I exfoliate everyday, but you shouldn't use the brush everyday. Limit the brush to once a week (especially since you're new at this). And yes, it's in place of washing your face. Don't wash your face and then exfoliate . . . it may be too much for your skin to handle.

As for water temperature - lukewarm is best.

Can you use a face wash that exfoliates the skin 2 months after finishing accutane?

is it ok to do this, because I know you shouldn't while taking accutaneCan you use a face wash that exfoliates the skin 2 months after finishing accutane?
Hmm...good question. I wouldn't use a face wash that exfoliates. They tend to be pretty harsh on skin and would be even worse on skin that underwent accutane treatment! Instead use a more gentle exfoliater A more natural one as well...baking soda. If you have any, rub honey on your face (honey is very moisturizing and will provide moisture to your dried out skin...I assume your skin is dried out due to the accutane) after you rinse it with water. It won't be sticky...don't worry! Then just rub a handful of baking soda on top of it. You'll feel the grittyness of it, but it won't hurt your sensitive skin. Just rinse it off with warm water and put your moisturizer on. You only need to do it once or twice a week. Just use your normal cleanser the rest of the week.

  • Is there any other way than face mask to exfoliate? If not, what are good masks for oily/spot prone skin?

    check this site out

    http://kiakawaii.blogspot.com/

she makes lots of natural face masks that really works

one of them is the aspirin mask (you can use to exfoliate, mask,or both)

    for oily

    dry

    acne

    etc...

they make my skin very smoothIs there any other way than face mask to exfoliate? If not, what are good masks for oily/spot prone skin?
hi i have exactly same skin as u and i use ''fab face food'' masks , they gently exfoiliate and they cleanse ure pores too u should try these :) Report Abuse
Is there any other way than face mask to exfoliate? If not, what are good masks for oily/spot prone skin?
Exfoliate (gently) everyday - or perhaps just once a week! Steam twice a week. Use a face mask twice a week.

    follow these steps:

    1 Cup Brown Sugar

    1/2 Cup Sweetened Almond Oil

1 tsp Vitamin E (I cut open a couple Vitamin E liquid gel caps)

    1/2-1 tsp Vanilla Extract

You can substitute the almond oil for pure sesame oil (not roasted). extra virgin olive oil, vegetable oil or any other oil you like that is suitable for the skin. I prefer almond oil due to the many benefits of almond oil on the skin.

In place of the vanilla extract you can use your favorite essential oil or fragrance oil. Or if you are in a pinch you can leave it out altogether as it's mainly included for added aroma.

The Vitamin E is also not a necessity but it adds some skin nourishment to the brown sugar scrub.

Steaming cleans the skin of all surface dirt, stimulates the circulation and unclogs blocked pores. It can be used every day if you have a very greasy skin.

Steaming can be taken by leaning over a large bowl of boiling water, by covering your head with a towel and making a tent around the bowl pores, loosen blackheads and bring spots to a head. To make steaming more beneficial, add a tablespoon of herbs to the water. Elderflower and chamomile are the old favorites for this. Steam your face for about ten to twenty minutes. By steaming blackheads come out of the pores and it becomes easy to extract them.

and for a very simple mask for oil/acne prone skin just use milk of magnesia (no flavors). Apply the Milk of Magnesia to face.

Wash with cool washcloth after 10-15 minutes.

i hope this works for you. has done wonders for me.

    :)
a homemade scrub will involve sugar and oil. Just a capful of vegetable oil and 2 teaspoons of sugar should be a good one for your face. someone said lemon, that would be nice to add. Stir it together scoop it up with your fingers and apply to your face in small circles with your fingertips. your fingers and the sugar will be doing the exfoliating, the oil is holding the sugar in place--don't worry about putting it on your face you will be washing it off. After 2 or 3 minutes, stop, wash your hands and rinse off your face. You could use a mild gel cleanser to wash off your face if you have oily skin--even handsoap from a dispenser is ok, not ideal, but ok. You will glow and look beautiful.
I have oily spot prone skin and ive tried every product you can see on the shelves of every boots and superdrug but the best product ive found by far is the Body Shop seaweed range. They do a face scrub thats exfoliating and they do a range of cleansers toners and moisturisers. Its slightly more expensive that most face products but id rather pay a few pounds more and know its right for my skin!
wash your face with mild soap and warm water and rinse off. Lightly spread olive oil, or other oil from the kitchen over your face. Dip your oily fingertips in white sugar and rub over face with gentle round movements and avoid the under eye area. Keep doing this for ten minutes and you may need to keep dipping your fingertips into the sugar. When done, wash your face twice in warm soap and water and rinse off. Pat dry with a soft clean towel. Then feel your skin, it will feel like soft velvet. This is a natural method and works. Do this once a week or twice a week, whatever you need.
A face mask doesn't really exfoliate. It draws out impurities and deep cleans. Use a face scrub. I use Origins range. It's a bit more expensive than high street stuff but I find it very effective and I'd rather pay a bit extra for something that works well. Having said that, Clean %26amp; Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub is pretty good too.

EDIT: You can make a very simple scrub with oatmeal and strawberries (strawberries have a natural acid that helps to dissolve dead cells). Just mush it all up, rub it on then rinse off.
Here is a home made face scrub.

This is a luxurious blend of almonds, oatmeal, milk and rose petals to cleanse the face leaving it silky soft. Mix 3 tbsp ground almonds, 3 tbsp medium oatmeal, 3 tbsp powdered milk and 2 tbsp powdered rose petals along with almond oil and combine thoroughly. Now store the mixture in a sealed glass jar and used when required.

    And here is another one.

Mix 1 tablespoon of honey, 2 tablespoon of finely ground almond paste and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub gently on face for some time and rinse with warm water.

Here is a site with a lot of info on home made face scrubs that are real easy and convenient.

put some 'just boiled' water and some lavender water into bowl, get towel and put over head and bowl and let the steam open and unclog your pores. when water has cooled splash face with cold water to close pores then pat skin dry and apply moisturiser. keep hands away from face and drink plenty of liquids (not alcohol).
I use St Ives face scrub it's amazing, doesn't dry you skin out lots of different ones for all skin types and you can use it everywhere also its just like a face wash. it also makes you skin really smooth and radiant i love that stuff not the expensive aswell.
There are heaps of home made remedies for masks....I've probaby tried them all. But if you really want to exfoliate and get rid of all that dead skin. Buy some exfoliating gloves. I bought mine for about $3 and they do a way better job then all those masks.
St Ives Apricot Scrub is a great exfoliator for the face. I use it in the shower a couple of times a week, and they do one for oily skin.
A wash cloth work great. It exfoliates your skin but is gentle enough not to damage it. If that does not do it for you than try mixing olive oil and sugar and scrub with that.
    this is really good

use an exfoliating scrub, a mask doesn't exfoliate.
I've heard of lemon %26amp; sugar being a really good exfoliant.. I've never tried it, look it up on youtube!
to exfoliate, you should use a face scrub- works better than a mask
    sugar scrub.

What is the best way to exfoliate the face and back?

Try an exfoliating face wash. I love the apircot scrub from St. Ives. You can get it anywhere. Also try a loofah or bath spunge with anti-bacterial body wash. What is the best way to exfoliate the face and back?
Use exfoliating scrub for your face. I prefer brown sugar scrubs- you can even make them at home. Trader Joe's has many natural scrubs in their beauty aisle for a reasonable price.

For your back, use an exfoliating scrub made for your body and use a exfoliating towel that you use in the shower. It can only be purchased at certain stores. I'm Asian, and it is common for Asians to use them. I recommend taking a trip to your local Asian grocery store and getting one. It hurts using it at first, because your skin might not be accustomed to the roughness. However, the more often you use it, it will scrub away your dead skin cells and your skin will be free from acne and bumps. What is the best way to exfoliate the face and back?
Try any peeling. It exfoliates your face and back automatically. I use it once a month. Really helps you to keep healthy looking skin.

In a bowl, mix some muscavado or any type of brown sugar with olive oil (about 2/3 sugar, 1/3 oil)

Over a sink, use your hands to scrub the mixture onto your face. Don't use two much, as any lumps of sugar your don't scrub onto your skin will simply fall into the sink.

Gently massage the mixture onto your cheeks, nose, chin, forehead etc in a circular motion.

Wash off the sugar and oil with warm water, splash your face with cold water and dry with a towel.

If you want to, you can put a little light moisturiser on your skin.

You're skin will feel and look incredibly soft, plus this is a really cheap and gentle way to look after your skin :)
It deepends on how old you are....

I had the same problem, and I'm 13. beacuse I thought it would be best to use the strongest exfoliater I could find, and after using my skin would go slightly red and sore. Eventually it made my skin very sensitive.

So i went to the doctor and she said if you are a teenaager up to about 15/16 then she wouldn't reccomend exfoliating because skin is still delicate and growing, so can be damaged easily by exfoliating.,

She told me to use a normal gentle face wash.

I use simple face wash twice a day, and it's important always to do this twice a day. It's gentle and makes my skin feel really nice after washing. My skin is much better now! Also the doctor prescribed me duac which is for spots. I found it useful, because now i'm spot free:D

Simpe face wash is about 拢2.99- and you can get it from boots or superdrug and places like that!

    Good luck!
    a homemade good exfoliator

I'll teach you how to make a brown sugar (and then some) exfoliator, it's quick and easy! =O)

    # You can use any size plastic container or glass jar that you want鈥?for the sake of this tutorial, let鈥檚 just say you used a small Tupperware container.

    # Fill half of the container with brown sugar (make sure it鈥檚 grinded well, no chunks).

    # Add 1 teaspoon of sea salt (I like sea salt because it鈥檚 chunkier and works great to get rid of dead skin).

    # Add 1 tablespoon of honey to the container.

    # Pour in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

    # Add about 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the mixture and mix well.

    # If it has too much of a creamy consistency, then pour in some more brown sugar and mix until you reach the desired texture.

    # The end result: The mixture shouldn鈥檛 be too rough but it should still have a grainy texture鈥?(I hope that made sense!) =O)

    # Dampen face with warm water, lather your face with the brown sugar exfoliator (in gentle, upward-circular motions), rinse face clean, and pat your face dry (remember... never rub, always pat). Good Luck Everyone!
hey there....I do not recommend exfoliation 2 times maybe one time...I have this scrub which is a dried vegetable...umm..I just cant remember the name but I am sure u can get it in the supermarket... it rellay helps exfoliation for me especially since my nose has blackheads.

Sometimes I use sugar to exfoliate or a walnut scrub.
It is the little hard bits in a facial wash that rub the dead skin off, exfoliating is removing the dead skin on the surface. If you dont want to buy anything a flannel will work if dried in an airing cupboard so that it is rough.
put sudercream on your face everynight your face will be glowing!
    Sandpaper.
you buy face wash to exfoliate.

    like clean %26amp; clear.

    from walmart.

    and use it every day

How often do you exfoliate your face?

Exfoliating manually is safe once a day or a couple of times a week, but scrub only for about a minute, apply light pressure, and use a good moisturizer afterward. Massaging with light pressure removes dead cells. For the face, try a soft washcloth or a Buf-Puf. As for granular scrubs, the gentler the better. Soft synthetic beads should be plentiful in the formula . good luck to you! ;)How often do you exfoliate your face?
Once A Week. More Often Than That, You'll Wind Up Removing New Skin Cells! How often do you exfoliate your face?

    bionic blast from benefit

i really like it and i ran out of any other face wash

so will it destroy my skin to use it daily? Is it bad to exfoliate your face daily?
yes, it will destroy your skin! i used st ives spricot scrub when i had no cleanser and my face looked soo good but then day by day after one week it got worse and worse..little tiny bumps started to appear and then when i popped it, there's puss. my face got irritated and infected around my mouth, nose and forehead area and i couldn't even talk or eat. so please do not exfoliate daily, go out and buy a cleanser. i hope this helpsIs it bad to exfoliate your face daily?
It's probably not a good idea. Plain face soap (like Dove) and water should do fine until you can purchase some more.
I heard washing your face more than 3 times a day will dry out your skin.
Never overexfoliate with excessively abrasive exfoliating cleansers, or you run the risk of bursting the delicate blood vessels under the skin. If the vessels burst, your skin may appear permanently flushed. This condition, known as telangiectasia, must then be treated using laser surgery.
It will not destroy your skin, but let it rest a day or two. There are 'safer' alternatives to skin care. I started using Arbonne when I learned that what you put on your skin is absorbed in a mere 26 seconds! (Think birth control patches, nicotine, etc.) Arbonne is pure, safe, beneficial Swiss skin care. I have been using their 'natural alternative to a chemical peel' since April. My skin has never looked better! You can get it at buyingarbonne.myarbonne.com

    Good luck!
If your skin is rather sensitive and thin you might want to do it only a few times a week. If not then it would be a good idea to do it daily but not like super scrubbing. If your sin is rather acne prone I would stay away from it and do it very very rarely since it could make your blemishes become red and raw and spread all over. It wouldn't hurt if you have normal skin and use gentle scrubbing motions other than if you skin is sensitive or acne prone.
use it as much as you want as long as your skin feels right if it starts to peel or get red than use it less often...but always in moderation...
You should exfoliate no more often that every 3rd day.

  • Help with exfoliating my face?

So I have had this problem ever since I started to wear make up and I'm now 23. When ever I try to put foundation on my skin just looks like a big flaky mess, and powder is even worse. Whenever I try exfoliating it just looks worse the next day more flaky, etc. I have tried really gently exfoliating just with a wash cloth and it does nothing. I have tried scrubbing it gentle with sugar, and even an electric toothbrush and crushed asprin. But it all makes it worse. I have tried lots of exfoliation products too..nothing seems to work. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?Help with exfoliating my face?
if you rub dick on your face a couple times it works great!

it even reduces pimples and dryness!!!!Help with exfoliating my face?
After exfoliating, you HAVE TO MOISTURIZE! When you do all that exfoliating, it will flake up even worse if you don't moisturize. You were exfoliating way too much. I use Biore Daily Exfoliating Scrub. It's gentle enough so you can use it every day and it doesn't make your skin flaky. I hope I helped.
Sounds to me like your skin is VERY dry. Look for a cleanser/lotion that is especially good for dry skin (Dove products are great for that). And exoliate only 2-3 times a week. With dry skin the makeup you definitely want to use is liquid foundation, powder will just dry up your skin even more.
You say your skin is flaky, so you might need to make your skin moisturized first. A good exfoliater is Mario Badescu's with strawberry seeds. DONT use any exfoliator with apricot seeds, because supposedly the seeds are too rough.
it sounds like your moisturizer is not enough, you need to get another one for extra dry skin or try using a serum at night time. you could also try using a moisturizing mask 1-2 times a week. make sure you are drinking enough water too cuz that can dry out your skin.
Try Chlorella Gel Cleanser. It was invented by the request of piano students who have pimple problems. Chlorella Gel Cleanser is made of edible algae .All gradients are food materials. Chlorella Gel Cleanser can clean corneous cells, sebum, sweat, dust, and removes pimples quickly. The reason is that Chlorella Gel Cleanser can absorb these organic substance and clean sebum out of skin pores.
Make sure you moisturize...your face is probably just dry! Make sure to apply a primer before you put on foundation, it'll help the flakiness.
    Uhm,

    Are you moisturizing?

Exfoliating will not do anything if you are not moisturizing as well.
It sounds like your skin is dry instead of dead. You exfoliate to removed dead skin cells. If your skin is dry, exfoliating is a waste of time. You need to invest in a good moisturizing system. Personally, I use Olay Complete All day Mouisture Cream with spf 15.

Vitamin e oil applied before bedtime will make skin softer and more supple in just a few days. You shouldn't exfoliate more than twice a week either, it'll just cause your skin to dry out more.

Yeah, that wouldn't be a very good idea. How about you exfoliate with an electric toothbrush? It works well. (:

Does putting sugar on your face help exfoliate your skin?

myth or fact? i have a lot of pimples and blackheads will sugar help? What should i mix it with?Does putting sugar on your face help exfoliate your skin?
Fact. Lemon does dry your face a little bit though so make sure to put some moisture cream on your face, not a lot just a little bit. Also sugar is the best scrub out there. Believe me!!! But then after the scrubbing and lemon thing make sure to wash with your normal face soap and dry before adding the cream! Run and try it now, and tell us what you think :)Does putting sugar on your face help exfoliate your skin?
Avoid popping your pimples. I also, heard that milk can do your skin good. Try that. Also, wash your hands thoroughly before you touch your face.

Wash your face gently but thoroughly with a mild, medicated soap and warm water.

The water shouldn't be steaming hot it should be just a little warm

Do not use a washcloth, as the scrubbing action could distribute bacteria to other parts of your face. Use your hands.

    Wash for about 30 seconds.

Pat your skin dry with a towel.
    yes.

i use it all the time.

just make sure you dont rub too hard on your face.

    (lemon makes your face lighter)

so to that person who suggested lemon, well you could use it if you want to lighten your face :)

try steaming your face aswell. it gets rid of pimples and breakouts.
yes it can help but try it once and don't rub too hard. If you do too much, it can irritate your skin and make more acne problems.
I mix sugar and lemon juice and use it as an exfoliator. Just rub it in circles on your face and rinse. It works really well for me!
    use brown sugar instead

Can exfoliating your face dry it up?

I've had some really bad acne and it's clearning up, I'm using clean and clear, the cleanse contains 10% benzoyl per. and and toner with 2% saylic acid. Moisterizer with saylic acid about 2%. Also using acne treatment with 2% saylic acid. I also have and exfoliator that contains 2% saylic acid and it says that I can use it daily. My face it really dry, especially around my mouth. Is it okay to use the exfoliator or should I not do it? Thanks and any suggestions would also help too.

Sorry for any typos =)Can exfoliating your face dry it up?
Yes exfoliating can dry up your face thats why you should put a mosturizer on right afterwards. I use Ponds face mosturizer and i love it!Can exfoliating your face dry it up?
You might be using a little too much salicylic acid and drying your face too much -- an exfoliator will only make it worse. I'd drop at least one of the products you're already using.

    Exfoliating my face..?

i have very oily skin..and i occasionally get some big zits:), but i seem to always have these tiny bumps-milia, i think-and thy just stay there and ..stay there some more. i have had 6 microdermebrasions done, which left my face very smooth..loved it. but a few months later, the little bumps on my cheeks and forhead are back. decided to use the neutrogena micro-derm at home kit, but only the scrub cream with the proffesional crystals..and i aply it with my fingers and gently scrub, instead of using the tool becuase i find my hands to be more effective.does anyone else out there like to use this neutrogena micro scrub without the tool, and use their own hands instead ? and do they use this to help with milia(by the way its not a really bad case of milia, just here and there, but to me ruins my entire complexion..

i think i bla bla'd alos:)..thanks if you could give me your insight !!Exfoliating my face..?

  • Exfoliating your face?

Hello everyone...I'm on the search for an excellent and gentle daily exfoliator for my face. Can you suggest any?

    Optional Details:

In the morning I wake up, wash my face with dermalogica dermal clay cleanser (good for my oily skin)...I pat dry and wait a few minutes so that I can apply clindamycin gel...and then apply a bit of moisturizer mainly on my neck, cheeks, and some over the t-zone. Then I apply bare minerals foundation (it has spf in it). It has the tendency to look flakey and dry in some areas....but only because I put a lot on (otherwise it doesn't really cover).

I typically have to dab oily off my face throughout the day and by the time I go to bed, i look like an awful mess. So I wash again with the clay cleanser (it gets the makeup off too). When I inspect my face afterwards---I see a lot of flakey sloughed skin in places.

*this is where I'm being terrible to my skin* I then wash my face again with an apricot scrub with some AHA in it. Usually every other day or everyday sometimes! Apricot scrubs are so bad for your skin but I don't have anything else! Plus the ';gentle'; AHA it has shouldn't be used everyday, especially after I'd already cleansed.

After that I wait a minute, apply clindamycin...wait five minutes...apply differen cream .01% wait a bit and gentle rub/pat vitamin E oil onto scars and just generally all over (its a good moisturizer).

It sounds like you're overdoing it and that's just making your skin freak out even more. You can make your own gentle exfoliant at home by grinding up up aduki beans and oatmeal, adding a little water and making a paste. If you gently scrub with this paste, it will do the job without irritating your skin. This is an old Japanese beauty secret. You don't have to make it fresh every day. The powder will keep for a week or two. Just don't add water to it until you're ready to use it.

You might also try simplifying your routine. All the assualts on your skin may be irritating it and making the situation worse. You could try washing with glycerin soap. Then at night use the aduki bean scrub, and follow it with a couple of drops of jojoba oil and rose hip seed oil. Jojoba oil is very similar to the skin's own sebum, and rose hip seed oil is famous for healing scars and getting rid of acne. Even though it's an oil, it's recommended for oily skin. A drop of lavender oil or German Chamomile oil added to it will help reduce inflammation. Sometimes adding a drop or two of oil to the skin signals it to stop overproducing its own oil.

Instead of stripping your skin with a clay cleanser and then moisturizing it, the best morning routine may be to just wash your face with glycerin soap and then put on your mineral makeup.

You can buy aduki beans (sometimes called azuki or adzuki beans) at Whole Foods and most other natural foods markets. You can buy rose hip seed oil there as well, but make sure it is pure and not adulterated with other oils. Good luck! Report Abuse

this may sound odd, but i bought suave exfoliating scrub, its for your body, but i use a dab on my face, and i love it!! i had mad dry skin, alot of peeling, i think due to my pregnancy, and my face looks amazing now.

wow, you have too much products. you only need a cleanser, toner, scrub, and moisturizer. if the cleanser you are using now is working, keep using it, but maybe it is too harsh on your skin, so i'd only use it once a day, your choice. even though you think you should, i would stop using the makeup. and if you use that gel stuff, there is no need for differin. and don't use the scrub, i have a solution. its called mint julep mask from walmart or sally beauty. you can also use it as a spot treatment, and substitute it for differen and the gel. its really good and doesn't dry my sensitive skin. and the mask is only 3 dollars!

Is it safe to exfoliate your face with baking soda mixed with lemon juice?

While those are both good ways to get clearer skin I don't think they should be used together. I think that would be too harsh for your skin. If you use them separately I think it would be fine though. I use them both separately and have really good skin.Is it safe to exfoliate your face with baking soda mixed with lemon juice?

    no

    Okay to exfoliate face everyday?

I'm planning on using a honey/oatmeal scrub. Would it be okay to use this everyday? Or would that be too much?Okay to exfoliate face everyday?
a bit much twice a week is good enoughOkay to exfoliate face everyday?
I wouldnt, this can leave your face VERY dry.

I would LIGHTLY exfoliate my face every other day with a wet washcloth if I were you.
i really recommend once a week. honey and oatmeal is excellent. i think you could use that for a mask too. it would be more effective.

i use a salt scrub. just regualr kitchen salt. it works to kill the bacteria and other stuff.

for an everyday routine, you should use a facial soap or something.
Honey %26amp; oat meal scrubs are good for sloughing off dead skin, %26amp; the honey is very softening.

    If you really think you need to use it daily, d o n ' t s c r u b v e r y h a r d !

Exfoliating over broken skin can cause breakouts and redness. You should only scrub 1 to 2 times a week, and 3 at most.
My dermatologist told me to use a mask 3 times a week so I thinkeveryday might be irratating to the skin.
I'd use the product as directed. Each product has a different grit and stuff. The idea is simply to remove dead skin cells and you aren't going to have too many if you use the product everyday. Try using a mask too.
every day is okay. just once in the morning and at nighy.
yes, yes, and yes you can never exfoliate too much
Actually dermatologist recommend to exfoliate twice or three times a week..and clean it with some good product every day (like Neutrogena)
Yes, you can defintely exfoliate everyday. Proactiv works very well because the face wash has exfolating beads, which you use twice a day. The only problem you may have is you may notice breakouts because of the honey in your scrub. If you want to exfolitate everyday, I would reccomend buying a product liek Neutrogena scrub which will not cause you to break out and use the scrub you have only once a week. Unless you are one of those really lucky people that never break out. If that is the case, enjoy your scrub daily =)
You can use a buff puff to exfoliate yopur skin while it is dry, but don't rub too hard.
No way! every 3 days max! You'll do the opposite and turn your face into the mohave. Trust me

How often should you exfoliate your face and body?

exfoliation is nothing but scrubbing ur face with some coarse powder or cream

i already told u about that

if ur using some artificial scrub (which u get in shops )u can use that for only twice a week

if ur using gram flour and milk u can do it twice a day

this gives u a healthy fair glowing smooth and silky skin all in one same holds good for body also use gram flour for better resultsHow often should you exfoliate your face and body?

I scrub my face with a mild facial exfoliator every morning. I prefer to use the ones that are specifically labelled ';for everyday use';. And once every one or two weeks, I use a regular heavy duty scrub.

For body - I use a loofah everyday. I love it, the skin on my legs used to be very rough. It's really improved with the loofah and lots of moisturiser after.
There is some useful advice here.
Wash your face daily and scrub it every few days and you only really need to do your body about once a week, depending on the job you do, i.e. working outside all of the time.

When exfoliating your body best thing to use is a sugar scurb like from bath and body works,,,,,it has oils in it to keep your skin from drying out and you feel soft and smooth when done.
I've always had problem skin so I exfoliate the problem areas daily. the rest of me gets the treatment about once a month...this seems to work well, keeping dry flaking skin under control.

Can anyone tell me the best face exfoliate for cheap?

and it needs to be really gentle so i can use it everyday and really cheap cause im going through financial trouble

I love St. Ives Apricot Scrub. You can find it at any drugstore or grocery store.

As for the Neutrogena Wave, I gave it a good try (about 3 weeks) and for cleansing, it does not work at all - in fact, is seemed to leave a residue on my skin. The massaging action does seem to have some effect on pores though, making them a little less noticable. If you're interested in using it, my personal experience is that it works better as a skin treatment, in addition to your regular cleanser but not in place of it.
nuetragena's pink grapefruit scrub is amazing..i'd def recommend you try it
St. Ive's Apricot Scrub. It's like $5 and you can find it at any pharmacy pretty much.

When you exfoliate your face, which direction should you rub in?

Moisturize, exfoliate, which direction should you rub it in? Outwards , or inwards?

Precise directions please? (For the jaw, cheek, forehead).

I know you must rub downwards for the jawline, but I'm not so sure about the rest. Help! When you exfoliate your face, which direction should you rub in?
Actually, you should be rubbing your skin AGAINST the pull of gravity. Gravity is already doing a great job of pulling everything DOWN, so when you care for your skin, you should be encouraging it to go in the other direction, which would be UP.When you exfoliate your face, which direction should you rub in?
circles, I have watched enough beauty shows and demonstrations of exfoliating for 2 lifetimes
I know u should use small gental circular stokes all over the face.
always in an upward circular motion, think young and beautiful up, old and wrinkly down. ^^
circular direction for all other places other then the jawline.

    -hope this helps!

How to Exfoliate skin (like face & legs) and how to use the exfoliate products?

I have heard about these but don't know how to use it carefully -Alpha and beta hydroxy acids, Dermabrasion and peels (Glycolic Acid Peel,TCA Peel,Phenol Peel andSkin Culture Peel)

Is these good for skin.........or dangerousHow to Exfoliate skin (like face %26amp; legs) and how to use the exfoliate products?
Well the peels....depending on which one, u would apply it twords the middle of ur face going outward..making it even through out ur whole face... letting it dry... for however long it may take...

then from the edge of ur face u should be able to peel it away.

And the ';Exfoliating'; products are pretty much the same...it's like a scrub... u either rub...hard or soft depending on the exfoliant itself...DETERMINE BY TOUCHING THE CREAM.

it's fine 4 the skin just don't over do it... 2 times a week is pretty good. How to Exfoliate skin (like face %26amp; legs) and how to use the exfoliate products?
The best thing you could get would be either St. Ives Exfoliator or the Equate version from Walmart. Leave the other stuff alone. They even have the sensitive skin kind with smaller grits. Its natural, only crushed walnut shells. Follow the directions and use it for 1 minute at the time. Works wonders! And its cheap!
Beta hydroxy acid is the same as Salysilic acid.I love St.Ives Apricot Scrub ..it exfoliates, and leaves the skin sooo soft.
I have been an esthetician for 5 yrs and dermabrasion and peel are what I do for a company based in CA called Spa Girl Corporation. The company # is 949 644-7080 and peeling classes are offered with certifications and hands on demos. These peels are safe and very effective if used properly. The web site is www.spagirl.com.

Well I dont know what exfoliate means but i wash my face at least 2 times a day...Lol...Idont Know If That Answers Your Question Or Not But Yeah...Lol.
    twice a week
My face every other day.. .My body 1-2 times a week.
You should exfoliate your body once a week. Your face is much more sensitive and it is ok to do it maybe twice a week depending on the exfoliating agent. Sugar scrubs are great for your body. The best exfoliant I have found for your face is a salt scrub that is made by dead sea salts. It is ground so thin that it looks like a paste. You can find it at the stands in the mall. That one is ok to use daily on a dry face. Others you should be more careful with. Read the directions and see how your skin feels. https://www.arbonne.com/shop_online/show鈥?/a>

This product is wonderful, but make sure you use it before bed becuase your face will be red for a few hours. You will have baby soft skin in the morning as long as you moisturized before laying down. (You can only get it through consultants) and should only be done once a week.

I just got really bad sunburn today while at the beach. Should I still exfoliate my face before I go to bed?

the chemicals along with the beads that are exfoliating will definitely irritate your skin! Don't do it or you will be in alot of pain! The best thing to do to get rid of the redness and heat in the burn is wash your face and try to do it with the warmest water you can stand. Surprisingly, this takes out the redness and heat in the sunburn. Then afterward, put aloe on it and by morning you will either have no burn or just a little pink left, but it makes a huge difference. I would wait atleast 3-4 days before exfoliating.I just got really bad sunburn today while at the beach. Should I still exfoliate my face before I go to bed?
If your sunburn is really bad, put aloe vera on the sunburn to sooth and moisturize your skin two to three times per day, and if you will have a shower use cool water and mild soap (I only use vegetable oil soap and it never irritates my sensitive skin).

You can also soak in a cup of baking soda and lukewarm water for about 30 minutes. Once your sunburn no longer burns :), you can exfoliate with mild exfoliants. I would use something without chemicals so as not to irritate the skin. I use Love A Scrub natural body scrubs -- they have ones for sensitive skin up to those who want a stronger 'scrub'... and you can use the scrubs all over your body, including your face!I just got really bad sunburn today while at the beach. Should I still exfoliate my face before I go to bed?
No do not disturb the skin anymore. Put on aloe vera (known for three thousand years) . If it's a second or third degree burn, go to the hospital. Second degree is blistering with burns. Any oils will burn your skin.
do not exfoliate it, it will kill!! i did it once and it was so painful i almost stared screaming! rubbing the exfoliant on your face will just iritate the sun burn plus the ingrediants in the exfoliant will hurt too
NOOOO, do not exfoliate while sunburned!! Aside from the pain, sunburns are very tender and sensitive. Leave it alone.

I had been using rough salt for few years and it is really very effective. Wait till your face is clear from pimples before you try because it may hurt. What I will normally do is to apply some on my face while in shower and gently massage on my wet face for less than 2 minutes then rinse off. Avoid the eye area though.

I use it once a week and it really helps to clean my skin thoroughly. You may also use it to exfoliate your body, you will like it. :)What is the best home made face exfoliate?
well...the best mix for exfoliating is honey and sugar...its not only for facial skin but also u can use it as hand scrub and body scrub...just add sugar to honey and mix it, c that the sugar is completly wetted by honey and rub over skin and massage for 2mins and rinse...
Someone told me to mash up an avocado and mix in some fine sugar and to use it as a leave on scrub. Massage in gentle circles on skin then let it sit for about 5 minutes then rinse. It did exfoliate and my skin was nice and felt moisturized.

st ives apricot scrub. its the absolute best ive ever tried. they have some for sensitive skin, oily skin, and acne prone skin. What should I use to exfoliate my face?
To exfoliate your face you should use lemons! It will tingle but that's the side affect to know that it's working. The lemon extract goes deep down into your skin to your pores which it then removes to make your skin better looking than ever. Trust me I've done it before. First get a yellow lemon and cut in half, before using it on your skin make sure to wash your face thoroughly with hot water then, make your face dry and apply the lemon by squeezing as you rub it on your face. :-)
There are a lot of scrubs, and I use St. Yves Apricot Scrub but I also exfoliate with some brown sugar, honey or yogurt and lemon. It exfoliates, kills bacteria and moisturizes all at once while calming! Yay!
I use clean and clear morning burst exfoliating face wash. It's oil free. It comes in a tube and it's a light green color with bursting beads. It works great and it wakes me up in the morning.
Exfoliating face wash... widely available in supermarkets.

You could also use pumice stone if the face is really rough...

And when all else fails, use the cheese grater!
hot sauce, no lie i use it every night, i feel so much better in the morning, just rub it in and go to sleep.
gentle scrubs from local drug store or almay or clinicque in dept store or make your own from oatmeal and water tighten pores with egg whites home remedies are fun when you're young.

Organic Exfoliation Recipe Blemish Be Gone

This is a quick tip that will not only exfoliate, but will help fight blackheads

Slice one whole lemon. Rub one slice on any areas which are giving you trouble with blackheads (usually around and on the nose). The other slices should be used on dry body skin to exfoliate (soles, hands, elbows, knees). Then Shower!

    Orange Citrus Exfoliating Scrub

The pleasant citrus scent along with the exfoliating and moisturizing properties of this scrub make it very popular. Mix the cornmeal with enough moisturizer to make a nice paste, stir in your orange essential oil. This scrub can be used over the entire body, but should not be stored any longer than your moisturizer should be stored. Many organic moisturizers must be stored in the refrigerator; it this is the case with yours, then you should also store this mixture in the refrigerator.

    Ingredients

1 cup Organic cornmeal Organic moisturizer 1/2 teaspoon organic orange essential oil

    Quick and Easy Exfoliation

Anytime you feel the need for a quick exfoliating treatment, you do not need to worry about whether you have one on hand. Just grab your sugar bowl and your organic facial cleanser; you have the ingredients for your treatment! Just mix about a tablespoon of sugar with enough of your cleanser to make a nice paste and massage your face for 5 minutes with it. Rinse with warm water.

    ENJOY HUN!Exfoliating your face ?
Baking soda, it brightens and exfoliates your skin. Just mix it with some water until it turns into a paste and rub it on your face. Sugar is also another exfoliant. Just add water and gently rub it on your face. I've tried both and perfered the baking soda one.
salt and water. just dont completely soak the salt, make it rocky and add a crushed strawberry. the strawberry wil make your skin glow, and the seeds also exfoliate!

to exfoliate ur face all u have to do is while ur taking a shower put it on hot but move away so the water doesnt burn, put moisterizer on ur face and the steam should open ur pores.
ive mixed sugar with olive oil to make a face scrub, the olive oil oisterizes your face while the sugar scrubs away dead skin.

ive dont this before and it worked nicely

    hope i helped!
A wet washcloth with your facewash and rub your face for a bit. That's another way.

How often should I exfoliate my face? My skin tends to be sensitive with any oily T zone. ?

    don't buy anything

use something gentle like rolled oat - thats one thing i use

you can also wet a washcloth (warm) and rub that gently

another one, this one works really well:

put a blob of spectro jel onto your hand

pour some baking soda in with it (just a bit)

rub your hands together and rub on face

    its so effective.

heres a bunch of other mask ideas:

    Citrus Skin Remedy

You need lemon juice and orange juice. Mix the two juices together and apply all over your face in an upward and outward motion. Wash off after 10 minutes.

    Paste of Yogurt and Banana

Mix one or two bananas in 6.6 oz yogurt and mash it until it begins to look like a paste. After washing face apply this paste before sleeping.

    Tomato Remedy

Blend 1 tomato, 1 tsp. lemon juice, and 1 Tbsp instant style oatmeal until just combined, in a paste. Apply to blemished skin, making sure the mixture is thick enough to stay in place. Leave in place 10 minutes. Remove with damp washcloth.

Cool as a Cucumber Yogurt Facial

Puree 1/2 cucumber in blender mix in 1 Tbsp plain yogurt, apply to face. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse well.

    Apple Zinger Facial Mask

Take 1 medium size apple, grated fine, 5 tbs. honey. Mix the grated apple and honey well. Smooth over skin and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.

    Facial Glowing Mask

Get 1 egg yolk and add 1 table spoon of honey and warm milk of each quantity. Mix all together and apply on face and neck. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. This mask will gradually lighten your skin and grant a glow.

    Neosporin

Use Neosporin on stubborn whiteheads and pimples overnight to help clear and heal skin.

    Pineapple Olive Oil Mask

In a blender, combine 4 large pineapple chunks or 1/2 cup canned, drained pineapple and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Blend until almost smooth. Apply mixture to face with fingertips and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse face with warm water and pat dry.

    Seawater Wash

Wash your face twice a day in warm, salty water.

    Oatmeal Scrub

Oatmeal when mashed not only acts as a great scrub but also effectively soaks away the excess oil from your face. The usage of oatmeal paste must be followed by a cold water rinse that helps in contracting the pores.

    **** and also

    ONLY EXFOLIATE EVERY COUPLE DAYS

every day will actually make your skin produce more oil

so once a week, or every 3 days

depends on which method you useHow often should I exfoliate my face? My skin tends to be sensitive with any oily T zone. ?
    Usually its once a day

but if your skin is super sensitive, then every other day is fine.

Should i exfoliate my face before or after i clean it?

I normally wash my face, then use astringen, then put moisturizer all over. Should i exfoliate my face before or after i do this?

Thanks. :]Should i exfoliate my face before or after i clean it?
exfoliate after you wash it. then use the astringen %26amp; moisturizer.Should i exfoliate my face before or after i clean it?
Exfoliate your face right before you use the moisturizer.

Is it okay to use table salt to exfoliate your face?

I saw my little sister use a salt shaker and sprinkle salt all over her face before washing her face.

    Is that safe?

Also, she used baking soda to wash her face...she says it's good for your skin.

I'm pretty skeptical about it and don't want to break out in spots.

It's been a week, her face seems fine...but still...Is it okay to use table salt to exfoliate your face?
no i do it all the time, but i use sea salt. its coarser. its a good exfoliant. neither will make you break out. if anything theyll dry your skin a bit but i have oily skin so its fine for me.Is it okay to use table salt to exfoliate your face?
You should be fine, I just wouldn't recommend the salt if there is an open wound on your face because that will hurt a lot, but other than that it should be fine. I think that salt would actually make a pretty decent exfoliate, I know that a lot of exfoliates use sea salt instead, so you may prefer that. I have heard of facial masks and acne treatments with baking soda in it, so I think that will be fine as well. However if your face burns from it, then just take it off because it is not going to be worth it if it breaks out your face. If you use this treatment I would also recommend using some type of moisturizer afterward because it will dry out the skin a little.
Sea salt is used frequently in facial scrubs/masks and it's generally available where you buy regular table salt.

Either one will exfoliate well - depending on your skin type you may need to moisturize, but you'll know shortly after using the salt on your face.

I don't know that baking soda would do anything to a face one way or the other.

I've dyed my hair for years and once a month I mix baking soda with my shampoo to help remove residue from styling products and dyes.
Sea salt is common in most exfoliating washes. It dries your skin slightly so use a light moisurizer.

Secondly, one of the ingredients in my proactive refining mask is baking soda so it must be good for your skin.
Your face might feel good; but if you don't close your eyes, your eyes will kill!

You should try the baking soda if you want to go cheap.

Products from the store will also do fine.
I have heard of people using sugar as an exfoliater so I think salt would also be fine. You probably wouldn't break out from using it since you wash it off its not like its sitting on your skin.
i honestly wouldn't use salt. salt is a very hard substance and using something like that on delicate facial skin can cause tiny little surface scratches. stick with softer plant-material exfoliants.
Okay never heard of that before...

I know baking soda is good for hair but your face... i dont know i wouldnt recommend trying it.
My wife I papaya kojic and licorice base soap and cream which are available online. These work wonders. Maybe it will work on you too. Try searching it through Google 'shopaholic's bargains'

    noxema scrub

    it is amazing!!!

    http://www.noxema.com/

    good luck! =)
    Axe?
The face is sensitive, especially around the eye area.

You'd want to find a mild exfoliating cleanser, maybe one for break-out prone skin. I like Aveeno's cream cleanser...

What exfoliating does is remove all the old skin cells on the top of your skin to allow for the ';newer'; cells to shine through. Heavily exfoliating your skin would be disastrous for someone with problematic skin.

Exfoliators come in several different types. They are usually gel or creme based with small particles that do not break down or break down slowly in water. These act like little scrubbers on your face.

Apricot scrub is one of the more intense kinds, the exfoliants are ground up apricot seeds and are rather large. You'll notice if you use it that it's fairly scratchy in texture. Overexfoliation will cause excessive oil production in your skin from the irritation, making matters worse. Save the apricot stuff for your body versus your face for a good scrubdown.

You'll want to find a scrub that has little particles, which is why I suggested one for sensitive or acne prone skin. Salycylic acid will help resolve blemishes (it's found in quite a few exfoliators).

As for applying, wet your face rather liberally with warm (not hot, ever), water then apply the exfoliant in a circular motion. Pay decent attention to areas that could be missed...like the crease on the side of your nose and near the ear. Avoid the eye area altogether. Rinse with warm/cool water.

I don't recommend you exfoliate every day. Every other day or twice a week should do ya.

    Happy scrubbing!
use a facial cleanser that exfoliates - i use st ives apricot scrub, inexpensive, and works great,i love it.also - moisturize after.
try neutrogena daily exfoliating cleanser. it gently exfoliates and deep cleans to reveal a fresh and healthy-looking skin. its skin smoothing microbeads gently removes dead surfaces skin cells that can give the complexion a dull, dry, and rough appearance. It works by removing dirt, oil and makeup and the skin feels fresh, clean and polished after that.
def use st. ives apricot scrub its an awesome exfoilient it totally works!!
You can save money by mixing your own exfoliate with salt, oil free lotion and water. Add it all together to the texture you want and scrub (GENTLY!) all over your face. Then rinse it all off and you're done! Then be sure and moisturize.
There are a couple different types of exfoliation...manual and chemical.

    Manual: scrubs, exfoliating cloths, etc.

Chemical: AHA/BHA, certain toners, peels, etc.

I like chemical exfoliators. AHA's exfoliate the surface of your skin while BHA's clean out your pores. I use Olay Age Defying Renewal Cream with BHA. My skin has been great since I've started using this product.

Any home remedies that i could use to exfoliate my face?

use cornmeal , aloe vera gel to exfoliate your skin I do this all the time my face and skin looks awesome it makes my skin glow it takes away all the dead cells that makes skin dull dry after use a moisturizer or olive oil to replenish my skin cheapand it works.

    half teaspoon of cornmeal.

1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel

Oatmeal mixed with honey and vitamin E oils, makes pores less noticable, helps dry skin and makes my skin super soft. LOVE IT! A little oatmeal, a table spoon of honey, and one capsule of vitamin E oil Mix it up, it's really sticky, but it works... Leave on for about 10 minutes, wash off with warm water....
Try a mixture of oatmeal and honey, both are exfoliating and tighten your skin. Also fruits like mangoes and bananas have the same affect. I would highly recommend a bit of mint with these too, not just for the smell, but it opens your pores too.
Sugar wont do by its self.

You could use honey, sugar and a hint of lime (but just a hint. you dont want too much lime on your skin)
I got this tip off TV that works great. Just mix Bi Carb soda in with some Cetaphil cleanser and it works like a micro dermabration (something fancy like that) treatment. I swear by it!

What are some things I can find around the house to help exfoliate my face?

The skin on my face is very rough looking and a friend suggested that I should exfoliate regularly, but instead of going out and spending a bunch of money is there anything I could find around my house to use? What are some things I can find around the house to help exfoliate my face?
The following is a great, quick little mask you can do at home.

It cleans %26amp; clears the skin. If you have quite a few blemishes (not just blackheads, active acne) follow up with an good moisturizer such as Cetaphyl or Purpose.

    ';The aspirin mask is a homemade BHA mask available to each and everyone of us, totally inexpensive and highly efficient, made of salicylic acid or tablets of aspirin. BHA is known to help tremendously with cleaning pores from deep inside and therefore contribute to keeping our skin blemish-free. BHAs are efficient on existing blemishes as well, by helping them heal faster and keeping pores clean afterwards.';

This mask is good for all skin types, especially normal to oily and combination skin, acne-prone and clogged skin.

    ';Basic preparation: 1/4 tsp. salicylic acid (ask for it at pharmacy, if you cannot find it, then crush 3-5 tablets of plain aspirin instead), distilled water. Mix the powder with the water until it becomes of a creamy consistence, apply on clean dry skin (focus on T-zone and sides of the nose). Keep it on until completely dry. Take a small cotton pad, wet it lightly and begin scrubbing the areas covered with the mask, making small circles. Finally, rinse with plenty of water. It would be excellent to apply a calming mask or a hydrating mask first, followed by your regular moisturizer. Skin will be left completely smooth and even.';

LRWhat are some things I can find around the house to help exfoliate my face?
Ooh- there are lots of things to make. Oatmeal is great! Mix it with some honey and mashed up bananas and leave on the skin for 20-30 min. Its a great mask! Otherwise- pineapple and papaya are wonderful exfoliants. Mash the two up, apply on face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. the enzymes in the fruit helps take off the dead skin! Ive done this at my school for Esthetics and it was great! aslo- green tea and chamomile tea are great toners! Make as u normally would, let cool and apply onto face with a cotton ball.
sugar, salt, or baking soda mixed with olive oil, mineral oil, glycerin, or even a spot of lotion.
sugar, olive oil, and honey all mixed together
Handfull of rolled oats, dribble some warm water onto them, rub between your hands till they start to lather up %26amp; then scrub your face.

Beats any expensive facial scrub hands down.
    ordinary table sugar.
whoa watch out for what the other people are saying! you could end up in a worse situation than you have now.

honey and oatmeal (not the quick cooking kind) is an ideal

solution for what you want. you make a paste with the oatmeal aabout 1/2 cup, mix with a couple of tablespoons of water then add enough honey to make it smooth. if you want to make it moisturizing then add oil to it. preferrably almond oil but if you don't have that olive oil will do. leave this concoction on your face for about 20 minutes. if it dries, soften with warm water to remove. do not rub. rinse with cool water and spritz with a weak solution ( few drops to 1/2 cup)of lemon juice and boiled water. (cooled down) this will help with the pH of your skin. if you don't have a spritzer you can using cotton ball but don't soak it just have it damp.

stop using soap on your face too. aveeno makes a good bar

soap. you may want to use an oilated product for the first little bit then switch to a gentle one. good luck.
Sugar and salt are too course and can scratch. Brown sugar is good, but not white. Stick to baking soda, it does a lot better job and kills germs too. Mix with water, natural soap, or plain vegetable oil like olive or sunflower.

Is It Good to Exfoliate Your Face Everyday?

    I use Biore

    Is it good

or will it damage my face?Is It Good to Exfoliate Your Face Everyday?
i usually exfoliate when i need it. um i think it might damage ur face though cuz it removes the top layer of ur skin and i think doing that too often could be harmful. read the directions on the cleanser and it should specify whether or not its okIs It Good to Exfoliate Your Face Everyday?
unless you have psorisis or something, please dont! You'll end up damaging your skin in the long run.....

You shouldnt be exfoliating more than twice a week really, because exfoliation gets rid of dead skin cells that are building up and if you do it everyday then it kind of defeats the purpose because there will be no dead cells that need to go..
Well, it depends on how old you are. If you are 25 or younger and have somewhat dry skin, I would advise against exfoliating every day. Perhaps once a week would be best. Exfoliating is good for your skin, however, it can dry your skin out. And young skin doesn't need to be scratched (exfoliated) every day because there aren't as many dead skin cells/blackheads/whiteheads to rid the face of.

If you use Biore, that's fine, it won't damage your face by any means. But no need to use it everyday (unless you have extremely oily skin).

If you are older, I would say exfoliating 3 times a week would be plenty.

St. Ives is one of the worst things you can use on your face. Most people think its great because its cheap and makes your skin smooth. HOWEVER; its ground up apricot pits. They are jagged little pieces. Meaning they are scratching your skin and allowing bacteria and free radicals to get in the skin, it will age your skin and break you out long term. Anything that has round beads in it is much better.

And dog poop is natural, would you put that on your face? I agree I like natural....but not EVERYTHING that is natural is always better. How often should i exfoliate my face?
Once a week. My favorite exfoliater is St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

Of course, there are some you can make at home:

    Oatmeal Exfoliating Facial Scrub

Mix one pack of instant oatmeal with water to create a paste. Once the paste is formed, dab the mixture onto your entire face. Let the mixture set for approximately 2 minutes and rinse off with cold water. According to experts oily skin should be treated with an oatmeal mask to get good results. Oatmeal when mashed not only acts as a great scrub but also effectively soaks away the excess oil from your face. The usage of oatmeal paste must be followed by a cold water rinse that helps in contracting the pores.

    Seawater

Wash your face twice a day in warm, salty water. This helps leave your face clean and oil-free -- without employing any potentially irritating products or soaps.

    Honey Yogurt Exfoliating Facial Scrub

Mix 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar with 陆 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt. Smooth the mixture over your face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off using lukewarm water.

    Baking Soda Solution

You can use baking soda as an exfoliator: be careful when applying it to your face, since it is a very effective scrub. Massage the baking soda into your skin for ten to fifteen seconds and rinse. Your face is now clear of the surface cells that will cause many acne spots.

Hi, only exfoliate 2-3 times a week. My best one is St.Ives. always look for a natural scrub. http://epictureperfect.net/facial_scrubs鈥?/a>
    2 days a week.

St. Ive's Apricot Scrub is my favourite.

What should I use with my exfoiating scrubber to exfoliate my face?

It's a small scrub that's for exfoliating i bought. Should i use cold or warm water? what products? soap? what do i do after? how do i know i've exfoliated my skin correctly? What should I use with my exfoiating scrubber to exfoliate my face?
I use the orovo 3 pack. The exfoliant is all natural, and works best with hot water, which opens your pores. It also comes with an herbal oral skin improver, and an acne gel. It works better then anything else for me.What should I use with my exfoiating scrubber to exfoliate my face?
sugar and oil great exfoliater nd it works on your whole body and if you wear fake tan it is great for removing it
Use the exfoiliater first, rub it in (but not so much that it hurts) and then rinse it off when you're done rubbing.

You can probably use any soap you want afterwards, but face soap is best. (I like Nuetrogena products.)

If you really want to make sure all the dead skin is gone you can follow up with a peel away mask. I like St. Ives Alpha Hydroxy Mask.
I usually do it in the shower, an di use St Ives apricot exfoliating scrub. Works pretty good.

How do you exfoliate your face?

I am 14, and I want to know how to exfoliate your face. Also, is there any kind of product that I can make out home because I don't want to throw away my allowance on buying exfoliants. I heard that you can use sugar, and if so, what else do you need to make a sugar exfoliant? How do you exfoliate your face?
if you use sugar and water just use a LITTLE bit of water because you'll want the sugar to be grainy and not dissolve. just a few drops. but if you want something stronger you can replace water with lemon juice. then you have acid to help exfoliate! but only use lemon juice a few times a month because it can be drying. How do you exfoliate your face?
Buy a sea salt scrub and wash your face with it by scrubbing.

Can you use vegetable oil and regular sugar to exfoliate your face?

I don't have any sea salt or oilve oil to use. Or should I use sugar and water? Can you use vegetable oil and regular sugar to exfoliate your face?
Like the person before me said; vegetable oil can make your skin greasy. I wouldnt use just any veggie oil but extra virgin olive oil %26amp; sugar works perfectly fine; and you should be washing your face with a facial cleanser after you exfoliate anyhow so that should get rid of the greasy feeling. Can you use vegetable oil and regular sugar to exfoliate your face?
Mix regular sugar with some moisturizer. Olive or Vegetable oil could make your skin really greasy.

  • How many times should I exfoliate my face?

I know you should exfoliate your face 2-3 times a week, but are you supposed to exfoliate in the morning and night or just night?

Should I use a loofah or a sponge???How many times should I exfoliate my face?
Because I wear makeup I use a face sponge every other day along with weekly face streaming to deep clean pores.

I prefer night so that I can allow my skin to regenerate along with my body as I sleep

You should use a face sponge not a sponge for your body. They are different and are usually a different color to distinguish from a body sponge, go easy on the pressure, don't overdo it.

You're doing it about twice a week is fine. How many times should I exfoliate my face?
No loofahs! they collect bacteria and cause pimples and are just generally gross.

Just exfoliate 2-3 times per week. It doesn't matter if it's morning OR night, but def not morning AND night.

Use a facial exfoliator brush or sponge. and don't forget to tone and moisturize afterward.
Every few days I use sea salt as a scrub. It's cheap and it works (and it's not going to hurt marine life if it works its way out to the ocean). I just rub it around with my fingers.

How often should I exfoliate my face?

I bought some Garnier exfoliating face wash to help improve my acne, and I've been reading other questions about how often to exfoliate my face. Most people say 2-3 times a week, but this exfoliating stuff I bought says ';daily exfoliating wash';.

Should I still only be exfoliating 2-3 times a week, or since this stuff says ';daily'; is it like weaker or something, and thus safe to use once a day?How often should I exfoliate my face?
If you have oily skin you should exfoliate 2-3 times a week. if your skin is on the dryer side, you can use it daily. hope this helps! How often should I exfoliate my face?
Nah i think they just say that so you use more product and thus have to buy it more often lol. Stick with 2-3 times a week. More often and you could be stripping the natural oils from your face. Stick with just a normal cleanser daily
If it says daily on the bottle, it should be fine.

The exfoliant isn't nearly so harsh on daily scrubs.

I have a neutrogena daily scrub, and use it most days. I've had no problems?
YES. You NEEED to use it everyday. Also use rub it for two min. I do it! IT will get rid of it!

    Exfoliating face wash.?

I started using this, and the first time it made my skin really smooth. But every time since, it's made my skin really dry, I have dry skin on one cheek and my forehead. Is this from the face wash?Exfoliating face wash.?
yes. nowadays there are few cleansers and scrubs which work immediately on your skin but as time passes by, you will face the consequenses as dry flaky skin. these are caused by excessive chemical and also bleaching contents where the products promises to bring a smooth skin to your face, it is all lies. as you know. bleaching is a corrosive chemical which can corrode your skin from inside and slowly on the surface. don't get cheated by some products in the market.

As a guideline, follow these steps:

    - determine which group your skin b'longs to (oily,dry...)

-read the ingredients(avoid products with too much chemicals and alcohol. also fragrance, smell the product)

    - for the best results, buy cleansers which is made up by natural sources like The Body Shop)

The Body Shop is a largest beauty chain outlets in all over the world where their products are base on 100 % natural flowers,herbs....

their Tea Tree %26amp; Seaweed skin regimen is the best for oily, blemish and normal skin. they won't dry your skin and will alwiz keep your skin flawless.Exfoliating face wash.?
It could be from the face wash, or just from anytime you've washed your face with any soap. I recommend buying an oil free moistuizer and put only a very little bit on your face every morning after you use your exfoliating wash. (go to clinique.com for great moisturizers.) (also, another good exfoliating face wash is Neutrogena Face Wash with Invigorating Microbeads.)
YES you have taken the natural oils out of your skin.

Take one weekend and wash your face really well on the Friday night apply a good skin cream and leave it on, don't wash your face all weekend and see how you feel Monday morning. Then use only a non drying soap like Dove or OLAY, some soap that has no alcohol in it. you'll feel better.
The exfoliating face wash might be too strong and dried out your skin if you use it in daily basis.

After exfoliating, you Must apply toner to close the pores and a moisturizer to help you restore and maintain skin moisture.

I suggest that you use this face wash only twice a week from now.
Okay I am having the same problem!!! I bought a really expensive exfoliator and used it my skin went super dry and I broke out in pimples well only 5...but I never get pimples...I contacted the company and they sent me heaps of their foundations, mascaras, eyeliners and even a perfume all full sizes! it seriously would've been $500.00's worth!!!

So i recommend you ring the company and complain! When I look at it now it was worth having dry skin and 5 pimples for a couple of weeks for all the free stuff i got haha :)

Hope this helps in a way.
its healthy to exfoliate... but we dnt expect to exfoliate everyday unless your skin is acne prone...

exfoliate 2-3x/ week only.... if dryness occur, decrease the frequency...or even discontinue..

skin renews itself in 30- 60 days so its most wise to exfoliate periodically only...

apply moisturizer for now... exfoliate the oily regions only...
it could be... thats what they do, dry out your pores. i use to use suff like that and the min. i stop useing it i broke out like you can not believe. the best stuff to wash your face with is just reg. soap and water!
Try after using the face wash using a moisturizer. this will help your skin from looking dry. when you wash your face you are trying to get deep into pores to remove dirt, this can dry out your skin if you don't moisturize!
ya may be it is because of your face wash or the changing weather. 1stly try changing your face wash. sometimes face wash don suites to the skin. try a new face wash like peach milk or dry skin face wash.
Maybe you should cut back to using this face-wash once a week. That might help.
maybe u over wash ur face using exfoliating facial wash....try to stop to use that product
