Anybody heard of whether coffee powder can be used to exfoliate the face?

How much and how fine must the powder be. What is the procedure?Anybody heard of whether coffee powder can be used to exfoliate the face?
Actually it's the used coffee grounds...i dont know about it working on the face but it's good for ur hands...it exfoliates and softens them. I saw it on the ellen show a few months back. And my grandma (who knows COUNTLESS home remedies) vows by this. So i guess it could work on the face too.

Just wash ur face to get rid of excess dirt, take the use coffee grounds and scrub in a circular motion on ur face then rinse off and wash with a light smelling face soap...otherwise u'll be smelling like a starbucks employee all day lol

Hope this helps! =]Anybody heard of whether coffee powder can be used to exfoliate the face?
i havnt heard of it,

ive heard people put it on there hands to get rid of smells like garlic and stuff but never the face.
I haven't heard of using it to exfoliate the face, but I have heard that rubbing coffee grounds into celulite can help to reduce the appearance of it.
I never thought of it, it may work, I guess anything that's grainy might work. I would mix it up with some baby lotion or baby oil to ease application...I would assume that you would have to investigate the effects of the coffee components on ones skin after several applications.... coffee has got some acids and natural oils, if we can ingest it, it can.t be that bad....
I think that might be too harsh for the skin of the face.. I like to use baking soda.. I just sprinkle a bit with my regular facial cleanser and make a paste, it makes my skin nice and soft.. I also sprinkle a bit into my shampoo and it gets any gunk out of my hair.. Like hairspray and gel....Use it with your regular toothpast it's great at removing stains.. It's also super cheap and easy to find.. You probably have some in the cupboard ! It's how I use expired boxes instead of just throwing it away !!
You can use walnut to do this, but I suppose it works with coffee powder too.

The reason it works?

The hard fragments shift away dead skin cells and dirt.

Try for a size of 1mm beads and try it for yourself.

If it works, good for you, you'll smell like expressos all day long, and if not, well you'll still smell like expressos anyway.

  • How do i exfoliate my face and i have little pimples on my forehead how do i get rid of them they dnt what to?

go awayso what do i do?How do i exfoliate my face and i have little pimples on my forehead how do i get rid of them they dnt what to?
drink lots and lots of water

    at least 1 liter

also put rubbing alcohol on them

that always helpsHow do i exfoliate my face and i have little pimples on my forehead how do i get rid of them they dnt what to?
I use Biore Shine Free exfoliating scrub every night along with Biore Pore Unclogging scrub. I use Johnsons and Johnsons toner and dab Salicylic Acid treatment cream on my face, then moisturize. If I get a pimple that's showing, I dab some toothpaste (The white paste, not the gel) on the pimple and go to bed. The pimple will have gotten smaller in size and less redness. You don't even notice the pimple that was there the night before.

I also drink lots of water.
The pimple cream that I always use is Acne Treatment Cream by Equate. It's pretty inexpensive and you can find it at stores like Rite Aide and Walmart.

You might also want to try moisturizing your face to get healthier skin and for that I recommend Olay complete.

Try to find out what your skin type is like and work from there. To do this, go to the make up section in either Nordstrom or Macy's and then find where they sell sun screen. There should be a little test there where you can find out what your skin type is.

Once you've figured that out either look up your skin type on the Internet or in Seventeen magazine. They give recommendations for different skin types.

Another suggestion is icing your face, but that's somewhat painful.

You could try popping your pimples, but that might leave a scar.

If all else fails, go see a dermatologist.
use st ives i use it very good for my skin
There a many exfoliants on the market. It all depends on how much you are willing to pay. As stated below, drinking water is a good start. You can also use creams, such as noxema. I used that when I was younger, and I don't have any acne.
have u tried hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball to get rid of the pimples. try not to dry them out too much; could have adverse reaction and become worse. Also i use olive oil as a moisturizer. it just takes a little bit. u might just want to make one appointment with a dermatologist. also a friend told me that she buys eggs from meijers only and that does good for her acne.
To exfoliate your face, try getting one of those microdermabrasion kits like Neutrogena or something, the little micro crystals are really gentle, but they exfoliate the hell out of your skin %26amp; they make your skin really soft and glowy. But if you don't want to go that rout, whenever you pick out an exfoliant, try and get the kind that are like beads, and not jagged, like an apricot scrub. Because the jaggedness will irritate the skin more than anything, and the round beads do the job just fine without the irritation.

As for the little pimples, try a clay mask twice a week to dry them out if your t-zone is oily especially, then use Sea Breeze or another brand of astringent on a daily basis to clean the area of blackheads, and anything that's clogging your pores.

    And always moisturize!

Can i exfoliate my face while on microdermabrasion?

i had a microdermabrasion last week.i have my next appointment two weeks from now.in the meantime can i use st.ives gentle scrub once a week to exfoliate the face? Can i exfoliate my face while on microdermabrasion?
You can but I think you should not. Microdermabrasion is invasive enough, give your skin some rest in between treatments. Can i exfoliate my face while on microdermabrasion?

    FACE Exfoliating?

Does anyone know of a face exfoliating glove/pad that i can buy not too expensive? My friend told me that you can buy them in most shops and they have a hard scub part on one side for the exfoliating and then a soft side on the back but I can't find them anywhere..please help if poss

';APRI'; range has been going for years and they do a apricot scrub which exfoliates the skin brilliantly!!however they brought out some small pads with a soft side for washing and a rough side to exfoliate!!they will probably be more hygienic for the skin as they are disposable and you probably wont use them everyday!!SAVERS did them!about 20 in a box me thinks, for about 拢3.00,they are small too.so ideal for holidays, hope this helps!!FACE Exfoliating?
go 2 boots and superdrug and they sell them there....... look round there are all sorts of dirrerent types 2 choose from!!!
She may be talking about something like this:

    http://www.olay.com/boutique/dailyfacial鈥?/a>

Other brands make similar products, should be easy to find at Walmart, drugstores, etc. Or may BufPuf, it's an exfoliating sponge without cleanser (you'd use your own). Just go slow and use it gently, they can be irritating.
a glove isn't for the face its too rough, Dove exfoliating daily cleansing pillows are around $5- they work great and very gentle and don't have chemicals that irritate sensitive skin, or try Aveeno Positively Radient
Body Shop should do them. Using a cream scrub is also good because the cream in the scrub will help ensure you're not rubbing too harshly on your face.
Try Neutrogena Pure Glow Daily Cleansing Cushions....you can buy them from Boots, Superdrugs, Tescos, Sainsburys etc.

They are two-sided facial cleansing cushions developed to put the glow of a professional facial at your fingertips. Each textured side contains micro-fine exfoliators, which polish away dulling skin cells for a smooth complexion; velvety soft ';corduroy'; stripes gently massage skin with a special conditioning formula.

There are two types: for normal to dry skin, and combination/oily skin.

    Have fun :)

Whhaaattt? Why do you need to scrape it? The skin on the face is very sensitive and delicate, especially around the eyes. I`ve never heard anything so daft. I wouldn`t have thought this would be recommended if you have moles on your face either. Normal cleansing with a lotion or cold cream should be enough.
nutrigina pure glow they are great you can get them at boots and super-drug

    Face exfoliating question..............?

I wanna exfoliate my face tonight, whats the best thing to use?

I have white sugar, refined salt and pink Himalayan salt. I also have olive oil. whats best?Face exfoliating question..............?
The exfoliant you select will depend upon the thickness of your skin. If your skin tends to be oily and non-sensitive, you can use a variety of fruit seeds to provide mild abrasive action. Cranberry seeds tend to work well for exfoliation. These can be purchased at your local health food store or online. Sea salt or pumice can also be used for skin that's not sensitive. If your skin tends to thinner and more delicate in texture, turbinado sugar, oatmeal, or wheat germ are good choices.

You'll now need to suspend your exfoliant in an oil to provide lubrication. You can use olive, grapeseed, or almond oil, but many people like to add essential oils to give additional smell and skin benefits. Before making your exfoliant, read up on the many properties of essential oils to determine which one would be most appropriate for your skin type. You can also add dried herbs to your scrub to enhance the texture of your exfoliating scrub. If you plan on storing your scrub for long periods of time, you'll need to add Vitamin E oil as a preservative since you're using all natural ingredients which have a shorter shelf life.

If you're pressed for time, a quick exfoliant can be made by mixing corn meal with water and working it into a paste. Apply to skin and gently massage using firm circular motions. A textured wash cloth or exfoliating scrub pad will add additional exfoliating benefits. Be sure not to rub too aggressively if you use an exfoliating pad as it can cause scratches and abrasionsFace exfoliating question..............?
Sugar and salt are too abrasive to use on your face, but you can make a good face exfoliant at home - I use a couple tablespoons of honey with some ground cinnamon in it, or oatmeal mixed with enough milk or yogurt to achieve a good consistency.

How many times a week should i Exfoliate my Face?

I have sensetive combination skin, with occasional breakouts. How many times a week should i Exfoliate my Face?
normally twice a week, but if you have sensitive skin start doing it once a week and see how it goes

xHow many times a week should i Exfoliate my Face?
No more than once a week and actually with your description you might consider going every other week to exfoliate. Your skin is not bad. It is probably more what you eat that affects the breakouts! Drink lots and lots of fresh bottled water or mineral water and stay away from soda and preservatives. Promise! You'll thank me when you get older! Nana
    Once a week is enough.
well i would say about 3- 4 times a week depending on your skin

but wash your face everyday and it'll get better
Oh, grow a beard and join a circus!
5 at the most bcz if you do more you can have serious damage to your skin. you should use a scrubbing acne cleanser twice a day.
Definitely only once a week for your skin type. Use some pure aloe afterwards.

Will my tan come off if I exfoliate my face?

I tan outdoors, not fake tans. But will exfoliating my face (for acne) defeat the whole purpose of tanning?

Should I just stop using my exfoliating cream? Will my tan come off if I exfoliate my face?
no it will get rid of dead skin cells and make your tan last longer also use moisturiser. Will my tan come off if I exfoliate my face?
    not noticably

try exfoliating before you tan tho, that will help you tan faster and make it last longer, then after tanning, rinse and wash your face - no exfoliating - and apply moisturizer

    hope that helped :)

  • How to exfoliate face ?

I use a make up remover cleanser every day around my eyes and Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub on my forehead every day (because my forehead is super oily)

If I begin to exfoliate, do I do it once a week? Should I continue my regular routine ive been doing for the other days? Do I need to do something to my skin before i exfoliate (like use a cleanser/make up remover?)How to exfoliate face ?
I exfoliate twice a week, just add it to your normal skin care routine. i usually do it at the end of my routine and then follow it up with a moisturizer(it can be drying). How to exfoliate face ?
Continue ur regular routine, but to exfoliate do this:

    1. Remove all ur previous make up

    2. Mix on egg white and and a table spoon of slighty rocky salt.

    3. Apply to face and rub in circular motions

    4. Wash off after about 3 min and make sure to wash off in circular motions.

Do this about once a week.

    Good Luck!
You should always use a cleanser before you exfoliate your skin followed up with a gentle moisturizer that has added sunscreen protection in it's main ingredients.Because exfoliating leaves your skin more vulnerable to the sun's damaging rays. And NOTHIHG is worse than premature aging!!

Some scabs formed after my second session, and they have been falling off. Will exfoliation speed up the process? After how many days is it permissible for one to exfoliate the face after a session of laser hair removal?
For LHR you can exfoliate a few days after your treatment. The exfolliation also helps to accelerate the removal of the dead hair shaft. Scabs are unusual, however, so you may want to be careful as you possibly could have been over treated and if the scabs are still secure, you don't want to expose damaged skin. After how many days is it permissible for one to exfoliate the face after a session of laser hair removal?
No I'm on my 3rd session for a photofacial my nose is peeling they told me it was normal, I wanted to get a dermabrasion facial to remove the dead skin and they told me to wait 2 weeks after my sessions were over.
Laser hair removal is “permanent” hair removal method but is expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

I want to exfoliate my skin every night but I'm afraid that it might be too harsh. How often can you do this per week? Can you exfoliate your face every day?
I do it every day in the hot weather. Winter time it's two times a week. It does dry my face out when it's cold . Always moisturizer afterwards. Can you exfoliate your face every day?
I dont do a hardcore exfoliation scrub but I use st. ives apricot scrub.its gentle enough to use everday. :D
I do it daily and my face is just fine. Just make sure you use a moisturizer afterwards.
3 times a week/every other day is best hon.
it depends on your skin and the scrub that you use really. if you've got sensetive skin, then i wouldn't advise it but I do and my skin's been fine. If you're not sure, use the instructions as a guide
oh gosh dont exfoliate your skin that much hun...way too much! i would seriously recommend once a week and soap your face every night to get everything out with a soap that works really well..u can use either like dove or baby soap so its gentle. my cousin who is a esthetician says its better once a week for skin..otherwise if ure constantly taking the dead skin out...when does the new skin have time to grow in??
If the exfoliater says it's gentle enough to use everyday, sure, use it everday. lol

BUT... NORMALLY, exfoliaters should be used on the skin 1-2 times a week

NO you cannot especially on your face (the skin around your eyes are very sensitive) once a week is good many ppl say it is fine 2 do it every day because it looks fine but it is not healthy
Yes, but try to avoid any sensitive spots on your face.

one of the best on the market is OLAY daily thermal mini peel. it contains glycolic acid w/ helps w/ exfoliation of the outer layer of dead skin cells %26amp; micro crystals to assist in this process. it is about $12 %26amp; lasts about a month w/ daily use.

  • How often (if at all) should I exfoliate my face/body when at the beach?

I'm 13 and going to Mexico soon. I will be at the beach almost everyday and exposed to sun, water, wind, sand, and a whole lot of pore-clogging sunscreen. I don't know whether or not to bring my face scrub and/or body exfoliant. I don't know if it would help get the dirt and salt water off me, or if, under those conditions, it would be to hard on my skin. Either way, I will moisturize every night. Thanks!!How often (if at all) should I exfoliate my face/body when at the beach?
There are sunscreens that are made not to clog your pores. Try Neutrogena sunblock Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 45. I like it, and according to Neutrogena ';A great all-over, everyday sunblock -- so absorbent and light you won't even notice it. Other perks of this dermatologist-recommended, broad-spectrum sunblock: antioxidants to fight environmental damage, waterproof, sweat-proof, and it won't clog pores';.

I wouldn't exfoliate other than the sand and salt. You don't say how long you'll be there, but at 13 you don't need to exfoliate alot anyway.

Have fun!How often (if at all) should I exfoliate my face/body when at the beach?
Hi, sand is a natural exfoliant, so there is no need to exfoliate while on the beach. A moisturizer is a must have, and should be used daily.

What do you use to exfoliate your face?

Just wondering what you guys like the most to exfoliate and scrub your face. I need some suggestions because I heard that exfoliating your face could shrink your pores, or at least make them less noticeable. What do you like to use? What do you use to exfoliate your face?
    some i really like are:

Apply baking soda on wet face using circular motions and you鈥檒l be amazed how soft your skin is going to be afterwards!

Make a mixture of 1 tsp brown sugar and 2 mashed strawberries. Brown sugar will remove dead cells and strawberries are going to make your skin baby-soft.

1 tsp olive oil and 1/2 tsp sea salt applied gently to a wet face will not only remove dead cells, but it will also improve micro-circulation. Olive oil is going to nourish the skin, leaving it incredibly soft.

Mix 1 tablespoon honey with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and 2 tsp ground almonds. Rub gently onto face. Rinse off with warm water.

Mash a piece of papaya, then add 1/2 tsp brown sugar and rub your face with it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse well. Your skin will be fresh and glowing .

    also try steaming your face

Steaming the face is the best way to thoroughly deep clean your pores, to get rid of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. Steaming your face is very important to loosen debris that may be embedded into the skin. When steaming the face your wide the clogged pores and soften the skin in order to cleanse more easily the impurities, the traces of makeup, the dust, the sebaceous secretions as well as the dead skin cells. The high temperature helps the pores do open and this way your body will clear of the toxins and the cosmetic products will reach every skin cell. After steaming it will be more easily for you to remove the comedones /blackheads, whiteheads/ and the little pimples.

If your skin is oily you can use thyme, peppermint or lemon. For sensitive use chamomile or lime. Those with normal skin can use rose, rosemary or lavender.

Boil a pan of water and after few minutes remove the pan from the stove. Add fresh herbs to create a fresh scent such as mint, chamomile and rosemary. Stand directly over the steam and drape a small towel over your head for keeping the steam from escaping because it will be more effective in opening the clogged pores. Stay 10/ 15 minutes until the steam disappears and rinse the face with lukewarm water. You can steam your face twice a week without worries 鈥?it won鈥檛 harm your skin

hope you likeWhat do you use to exfoliate your face?
Most exfoliators you should only use once a week.

But I use neutrogena daily exfoliating scrub, cause I have awfully dry and rather flakey skin, but my skin is also oily, so I can't go overboard on the moisturisers.

Anyway, the neutrogena is really quite good, you don't have to use it every day. And they do more... vigorous scrubs too, if you just want to use one once a week. And its not stupidly expensive either.
As someone who has used pretty much every exfoliation product on the market (no joke), I can tell you hands down the best exfoliation product you want to use is an at home microdermabrasion kit.

I personally use the Olay Regenerist one (link below) it's a little bit pricey-- $25 for the kit, however it lasts a really long time. I've had it for two months and have used it only 5 times and my skin is the best its ever looked.

I used to have large pores, clogged pores, lots of blackheads and generally bad skin if you looked at it closely. Now, my pores are virtually invisible, pores are clear, blackheads gone, any hyperpigmentation I had is GONE.

This stuff is made from God. Seriously.

I use this exfoliation about once every two weeks. That's really all you need or your face is going to get dried out and irritated.

I also use another Olay product, it's a face serum which stimulates cell growth on your face to allow the new stuff to come to the surface and to help get rid of the dead old cells. I use it every AM and PM. This stuff is pricey too ($25) and the bottle looks small, but trust me i've also had this for months and use it twice a day, 2 squirts at a time and its still not gone.
My wife use papaya kojic and licorice base soap and cream. These products made my wife鈥檚 skin even tone and smooth as if 10 yrs ago (we're both 44). These work wonders. Maybe it will work on you too. Try searching it through Google 'shopaholic's bargains'
I like Clean%26amp;Clear exfoliating face scrub. It works great! It's got little micro beads in it that pop and moisturize your skin and clean it.
I use St. Ives apricot scrub twice a week and it works great.

YOu are scrapping your skin and removing layers which causes spotting on the face. You need to try using a mild cleanser if you have makeup and warm water is fine if you have no makeup because you are only removing the oils which is not all that bad for your skin.Is it bad to exfoliate my face everyday?
Well it will be bad once you notice things on your face. Too much exfoliation can cause the skin to dry...which is never good. I exfoliate 3 times in a week...I would do it more often but I really dont want dry skin thats bad really really bad...but yeh dont exfoliate more than 2-3 times per week...
Yes, leave your skin alone !! I never exfoliate, never use soap just moisturiser in a morning and wash everything in the shower every day or 2. Your skin needs balances, we dont need to keep scrubbing it.
Yes. Try every 3 days, and exfoliate at night. The sun can make the whole exfoliation process worse. Also, try not to exfoliate any acne, it will make breakouts worse.
Yes only do it every 3rd day and use a face wash in between and then moisturise xx
Yes. Do it like twice a weak. You will wear your skin down, and you dont want to do that
    yes bbz it is.

Your skin becomes immune to it.

  • How long should you exfoliate your face for?

I heard it was twice a week for ten minutes each time but that seems too much. So how much and how long each time? And how much pressure? thanksHow long should you exfoliate your face for?
Rud it is gentle circular motions for about 2-3 min.

Is it okay to exfoliate your face with visible enlargened pores?

I have pores on my face that are very visible, and I heard that exfoliating your face would help to minimize the pores.

But I've tried the Oxy exfoliating cleanser before, and apparently it caused a tremendous redness on my face and made it very itchy.

So I'm just wondering, what can I do about these enlargened pores? Is it okay to exfoliate your face with visible enlargened pores?
yep, its perfectly fine. just remember that the size of the exfoliating beads should be relative to the size of your pores. so small pores need a very fine scrub, and people with large pores need a scrub with larger scrubbing beads. Is it okay to exfoliate your face with visible enlargened pores?
Hi there, i also have slightly large pores and have been doing some searching. If you go onto the neutrogena website they have a product there for large pores. Its quite informative. I must be honest with you, i have not tried it yet i'm waiting for my facewash that i have now to finish first as it is not very cheap. I'm sure there are lots of other products that you will be able to find that help reduce large pores.

    Good Luck!

If you do give it a try or have already found something please let me know the results
Yes you can but you should only do it 1-3 times per week. You might have very sensitive skin so check to see which products out there can help. Also always be sure to moisturize it is one of the most important steps that you must never forget
    Yes it's ok.

Exfoliation will make your face red and irritated for awhile. It's best to do it at night before you go to bed.
Yes you can, so as long as its not bleeding

Getting rid of dead skin by phsical means
I think it is good for your skin. A wash cloth is not too abrasive. they have something called a buff pad that is like a scrubbing pad for your face. Supposed to make your face glow.
Its gettin rid of dead skin. Its good for you but dont do it everyday.
Its getting rid of dead skin, and it os good for you just make sure you dont use a body one on your face its a easy mistake to make. The body scrub are alot more abrassive than the face ones.
exfoliating is when you use a product to remove dry skin an dead skin cells it makes you skin nice and soft x x
exfoliating is getting rid of any dry or dead skin.
It's the removal of dead skin. It is good for your skin, but can be bad if you over-exfoliate. You shouldn'f exfoliate everyday. Only up to 3 times a week.
Too much exfoliating is bad. It takes off dead and dry skin. I personally exfoliate about 3 times a week. Don't use a cloth, use your hands.
Exfoliating your skin removes the dead skin cells which can clog the pores and may cause spots and blemishes.

Its definately a good thing to exfoliate your skin. I exfoliate my face once a week - 10 days using a paste and soft flannel with warm water.

It feels great. Your skin feels smooth and gives you a fresher look.
To get ride of the dead skin on your face. Was the exfoliating soap kinda rough? If so, you don't need the wash cloth. Just use the soap on your face. If you wash your face with a wash cloth every time the you don't need to use the exfoliating. Cuz the wash cloth will do the same thing. But you can use the exfoliating soap once a week as needed. If you use it to much your skin MAY dry out.

    Good Luck!
It removes dry and rough skin from your face it can be good for your skin but it can also be bad if you do it to much you should only do it a few times a week and dont use anything other then your hands if you do this to much your skin will freak out and become very oily and could make skin problems worse for you
a good natural substitute exfoliater is a small amount of granulated sugar. Works well , using the palm of your hands and a little water. Forget the cloth.

How do you exfoliate your face? I have no idea and never tried it before?

I encountered that term and im not familiar with it. I also heard it has good benefits. So I wonder why not try it, so for any of you who have done these please tell me how.

I really appreciate a step by step procedure. Thanks !!!How do you exfoliate your face? I have no idea and never tried it before?
Buy an exfoliator in the beauty aisle. Aveenos makes a daily scrub that is really lovely.

If you need a deep exfoliation, try Philosophy's 'The Great Mystery'. It will make your skin feel like baby skin in 2 minutes - I use it once a week and my face is super smoothe! How do you exfoliate your face? I have no idea and never tried it before?
All it is is using a scrub--make sure it is for the face. Or you can just use a cheap washcloth with lots of soap and hot water and scrub away at your face--not too hard tho--specially around the eyes, a delicate area. Prolly the easiest way is to wash your face, dry, apply a clay facial mask, leave on for about 10 minutes and then remove with a lukewarm washcloth. The reason to exfoliate is to remove the dead skin cells that accumulate on top of your skin. This lets the bright and shiny new skin cells show!! Mary Kay has good facial masks. St. Ives has Apricot facial scrub. DHC has a good facial brush if you like feeling really clean! If you have dry skin be sure to moisturize after! Get ready to glow!!
buy an exfoliating cleanser? or some facial scrub. i'd recommend St Ive's Apricot Scrub. it's one of the best i've used.

Buy and exfoliating cleanser you can get them everywhere
Go to the general dealer or drug store and get yourself a fresh facial scrub or exfoliator, its a kind of face wash or cream that contains tiny beads that srub all your old skin cells off so that you get rid of the dead skin layer on your face , it improves the funtion of the skin tissue and the look,

Exfoliators arent only for the face you get specified ones for your entire body too.
You need a product called a ';buff puff';. It is an abrasive cleaner for your face. You just wet it and apply soap and wash your face with it. Godloveya.

Is it a good Idea to exfoliate my face before putting on my foundation?

I use the clinic 7 day scrub but when I ex foliate prior to applying my foundation I feel like my skin is greasy due the smoothness that the exfoliting does for me is this normal? Is it a good Idea to exfoliate my face before putting on my foundation?
You may want to exfoliate at night, a few times per week. It isn't necessary to exfoliate everyday. Besides any additional rubbing to the face will help to increase the productin of oil- so that is probably why you are getting that greasy feeling. If you are typically oily- apply a light moisturizer and perhaps a make-up base before foundation for a smooth application. Is it a good Idea to exfoliate my face before putting on my foundation?
Instead of using the 7day scrub, which is not only abrasive, but oily, why don't you just use their ';total turnaround'; cream.

I think it's over $30, but you use a tiny bit after you wash your face (I use neutrogena liquid facial soap and it works well).

Total turnaround is just a moisturizer that has some exfoliating properties. It works best for me to remove dead skin and makes my skin soft and not greasy.

    Worth the money...

The only thing I spend lots of $$ on is that cream, and some good lancome mascara, and clinique eyeshadow, liquid makeup, and blush.
if you have skin a bit on the oily side, and you exfoliate to often you actually produce more oil. Exfoliation for oily skin every other day or 3 days a week. more on skin see http://www.reverseyourskin.com
no because if you do the your poors will open the the foundation will get in your poor, clog them and you will get a lot of pimples

i find the st. ives apricot scrub is the best exfolaitor. it has sand in it so it really cleans out the dead skin and gunk in your pores. it's not an active ingredient that does anything it's just the act of rubbing the sand on your pores. it breaks away dead skin and loosens pore-clogging material out of your pores. you can buy it at any drugstore, the supermarket, or target or walmart. it looks like this:

What should I use to do it? Preferably something I can do in the shower. How should I exfoliate my face?
Omg, please do not scrub your face with a body puff ever again. You might end up scarring your face.

I would suggest using St Ives apricot scrub. It's a really good and cheap scrub which i use on on both my face and my body, and it leaves my skin really soft and smooth. Moreover, it's a really affordable product.

But one thing to note, do limit your exfoliation to at most 2-3 times a week. Anything more than that, and you could end up scrubing your skin raw.

How often should I exfoliate my face?

I use St Ives Apricot Scrub about once a week... wondering if this is too harsh on my skin? How often do you use a scrub? How often should I exfoliate my face?
Products that exfoliate are different in the intensity of the abrasion. Some are more gentle than others. They can actually make your break out at first, as they open up the pores and draw out the toxins and dirt. The harsher ones can rip up your fragile skin, and your skin needs more time to ';heal'; between exfoliating.

I've found a balance using a gentle exfoliant every other day, I use oatmeal ';soap'; regularly. If I've been working in a dirty setting, landscaping/gardening/ cleaning the chimney or sweating a lot, I use a slightly more aggressive one, but only sparingly, once every 10-14 days. Between the two, I've found my skin to be more radiant, without being damaged.

I happen to use Olay products, because it works for me and I often find them 50-75% off in the markdown bins. I stock up so that I never have to pay full price.

It also depends on how old you are. I'm not young, so I have to be careful because our ability to heal wanes with age. It took me a couple of weeks to find a balance that worked for me. I tried cheap products, but they were kind of abrasive and made my skin sting. Instead of throwing them away, I used them on my feet.

These products can be very expensive - try the medium level or store brand, often the difference is in the packaging and not the product itself. Compare the ingredient labels. Good luck! How often should I exfoliate my face?
Humans shed their skin about every 28 days. You should not need to exfoliate more than once a month. Doing it more can cause over production of skin cells, which can cause a grainy feel and appearance to the delicate facial skin.

Exfoliate only once a month and use sunscreen every day on your face!!
My grandma uses St. Ives Apricot Scrub! I think she uses it once a week too! (im only 11 and she lives with me and my parents and my sisters) I think once a week is great! if it isnt turning out right, do it once or twice a month. Neutrogena has great products if you decide not to use the St. Ives scrub

    Have a nice day!

    =D
No once a week is how often you should exfoliate so you can get rid of makeup and other things that clog pores. However if the bottle says ';can be used daily'; you can use it as often as you'd like.
That can be a very harsh scrub... I would use that once per week.

If you decide to switch scrubs, Nuetrogena has a lot of great products.
not more than once a week cause your skin will become too dry. I used to go to a beautician and they used to tell me to do this :)
If it becomes to harsh on your skin you should only use it once a week.
To prevent dry skin, only do it once or twice a week

Thanks.I have flaky dry skin on my face... If I use an exfoliating wash should that not get rid of it?
Have regular showers and you the exfoliating skin thing before or after, and drink lots of water this all help to keep the skin looking healthier and get rid of dry flaky skin unless you have had like an allergic reaction to something or xma i dunoo how you spell it but you should if it persists ge it checked out by the doctorI have flaky dry skin on my face... If I use an exfoliating wash should that not get rid of it?
It should, yes, but all faces and skin types are different so you can't expect everything to work, or for something that worked on your friend or someone else you know to work on you.

I mean lets face it, if one product did the job for everyone, there'd be little to no competition in the market, haha.

If you have sensitive skin, like I do, a lot of harsh washes or anything like that probably won't work for you, if anything they might actually make it worse.

My best advice to you is to, if you take long hot showers or baths, don't make them so long or the water so hot, because the hot water can make your skin really dry like this. And also use the exfoliating wash for the minimal time it suggests, and also drink lots of water because it is indeed healthier for you in general, but also for your skin :)

If it doesn't show signs of getting better within 3 weeks or so, I'd see a dermatologist and see what they say (or just your normal family doctor first, then they might refer you to the dermatologist if they feel they can't help), if you do in fact have sensitive skin or not, and if not they will probably recommend you to get a nonprescription cream.
use something very gentle for your skin, then make sure you moisturise alot. It may be due to the sun (sun=dry) so make sure you moisturise every night before bed and every morning (after you wash your face).

It's best to exfoliate once a week, as you can dry the skin out more if it is too often

also if it is at all itchy, make sure you dont have allergies/eczema as they can be the cause of very dry skin

    hope this helps!

    xx

p.s. use a very plain moisturiesr, such as dove or johnsons, theyre really good face moisturisers =)
Ok, maybe this isn't what dermotologists would tell you to do.. but when I go tanning and I peel and have dry skin on my face, this is what I do...

I put ALOT of lotion on it. Keep it on there for a few minutes, then take a towel and wipe the lotion off your face, do it kind of hard so that you can get the skin too. This always helps me.
Sure. But the dryness is caused by not having enough moisture in your skin. Try drinking extra glasses of water, avoiding sun, and eating more vegetables. Also, eating fatty fish such as salmon can greatly improve dryness in skin.
not if it has lots of sent in it etc as you have dry skin you have to keep it moisturized and all the products you prob use have stuff in that drys it out more! try using a cream with no sent in or aqueous cream is used for eczema its really gd!
in theory yes. it gets rid of mine for a few days..

I exfoliate once a week, then if need to a few days later, mix with some liquid soap.

put some face moisture on afterwards....stops your skin drying up..

    Hope this helps
If you use an exfoliant wash/scrub, make sure it's for dry skin, not for oily skin as this will just make it worse.

What can I use to exfoliate my face?

I use a face wash but I still feel like my face isn't really clean. Almost like I can feel a little bumpy layer of dead skin cells. Gross, I know! Any tips? What can I use to exfoliate my face?
The best exfoliant, and the one with scientific research to support it, is alpha hydroxy acids. These are also known as fruit acids or AHAs. AHAs are wonderful because they are cheap, easy to use, and most importantly, they actually work.

Skincare experts (as opposed to marketing executives) generally acknowledge there are only a couple of truely effective skin care products - retinol creams you get by prescription from a doctor or alpha hydroxy acids.

AHAs can be glycolic acid, lactic acid, or fruit acids. In nature they are derived from plants or from milk. However, the cosmetic industry usually uses synthetic AHAs. The secret to their power is that they are useful exfoliants - they break down the top layer of the skin and reveal brighter and more youthful looking skin underneath.

There are no worrying side effects from alpha hydroxy acid lotions. Remember though, the reason AHAs make your skin look glowing and youthful is because they slough off the top surface layer of the skin. This top layer does provide a little bit of sun protection so after exfoliating with AHAs your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. You can easily avoid this increased risk of sun damage by wearing suncreen - something you should always do anyway.

The research shows that to be an effective wrinkle remover cream, the AHA concentration must be between 5% and 10%. Closer to 10% is better. Tt is also suggested you look for a pH between 3 and 4. It is an added bonus if the product also contains other beneficial ingrediants to support your skin and fight aging. For example, look for water-binding agents, antioxidants, and anti-irritants. You cannot get this balance by making products at home.

';Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion, Night'; has a pH of 3.3, and an AHA concentration of 8%. It has no irritating fragrance but plenty of vitamin-based antioxidants. At around $12, this is a great buy.

A great alpha hydroxy acid gel is ';Paula's Choice Exfoliating 8% AHA Gel'; It has 8% glycolic acid and a pH of 3.5-3.8. As it is a gel as opposed to a lotion it has a lovely silky feel and is easier to spread. Best of it all, it works! The price tag is $17.95, or $0.80 for a sample. What can I use to exfoliate my face?
I saw this in the movie the wedding planner and I have done it. It's been a while ago and I will have to find the clip again, but I think it's a combination of sea salt and lemon juice. I will find it and edit my answer to be sure. Sorry I tried to speed through it and I couldn't find the scene I was looking for but it's at a wedding and the bride has a really bad fake tan and she tells her to scrub, scrub, scrub.
Gram flour mixed with lemon juice, a tsp of curd,1 tsp honey, and a pinch of turmeric this would not only exfoliate gently adding sheer glow on ur face.

You may get used to it and feel good after exfoliating but it actually is more likely to cause problems and damaged skin if you exfoliate this often. Switch to doing it once every 3 days at the most.

Exfoliating too often irritates and damages the good cells rather than removing just the dead skin cells.
my dermatologist told me to only exfoliate once a week. anymore than that will hurt your skin and make your skin worse.

if your skin is getting tighet later in in the day, you need a better moisturizer. exfoliating eczema is not a good idea. you need to moisturize it. Keep it well hydrated.
once a week and if you want something that works and is cheap go to Spokane WA Craigslist and look under the general catagory a lady that sells a home remedy for acne.. it is a face lift in a bag also! 10 bucks a month! I use it and I really love it so I am trying to let people know about her! I get no compensation and I dont know her, its just a miracle as to what it did for me! I hope this helps!
Once a week in the colder months, twice a week in summer. In the summer or warmer months, oil and sweat is built up faster so twice then is good, but once for winter since your skin is probably drier in the winter.
Once a week is adequate - you dont want to be stripping your skin of normal/natural oils on a daily basis - let your skin recover from the scrub first
once a week if you have oily skin

you can start breaking out from it if you do it everyday

if you have very dry skin... once every 2-3 days
i would say once a week but there are some exfoloiators that are quite gentle so u are able to use them more than once a week, but b careful not to strip your natural oils.

A raw potato is cheap and brilliant acne natural cure, especially for whiteheads. The vitamin C makes your skin glow, and alkaline in the potato kills the bacteria on your face. (Make sure the potato isn't genetically modified!)

It should be okay, just as long as it isn't drying out your skin. If it does start to, just use it once a day. And use should use a moisturizer. Hope this helps. :)Is it okay to exfoliate my face twice everyday?
I don't think you should because exfoliating basically gets rid of the dead skin. After you exfoliate in the morning, you're not going to need it in the evening so it may make your face red and blotchy if you use it more than once every few days.
Because exfoliant gets rid of the dry and dead skin, using it that regularly will cause it to strip the natural oils from your face, leaving it overly dry. It's best to exfoliate once a week, twice at most.
it is not gud 2 use scrub twice a day it wil makes ur skin colorless after some days.

it will effect ur natural skin, use it for 2 r 3 times in a week

Since it's Dove it should be ok. But there's also a chance that it'll clog your pores.

After exfoliating my face, what else do I need to do?

moisturizer is your best friend. After exfoliating my face, what else do I need to do?
I'd clean with witchazel, and then moisturize. Make sure none of the products you're using have any of this stuff in them:

    * Mineral Oil, Paraffin %26amp; Petrolatum – Petroleum products coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatological issues, like slowing cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging. Suspected cause of cancer %26amp; Disruptive of hormonal activity.

    * PARABENS – Such as methyl- propyl- butyl- %26amp; ethyl- parabens: Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

    * Phenol carbolic acid – Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.

    * Propylene glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, may inhibit skin cell growth, and is a skin irritant and sensitizer.

    * Acrylamide – Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.

    * Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) – Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived'; - and is found in many popular body washes and toothpastes!

    * Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.

    * WAXES – Such as Paraffin, Candelilla Wax, Carnuba Wax: Waxes are widely used in cleansing creams, eye creams, and moisturizers. Waxes clog pores, creating blackheads and whiteheads. They also smother the skin, which over time creates an enlarged pore problem.

    * Lanolin – A yellow, semi-solid, fatty secretion from sheep’s wool is widely used in skin and beauty care products. It can cause an allergic reaction in some people, as well as enlarged pores.

    * Acetone – Used in nail polish and nail polish removers, this colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners, or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, while speeding up the aging process.

    * ALCOHOLS – Such as Isopropyl Alcohol, SD Alcohol 40, Ethyl Alcohol: Alcohols dissolve the body’s natural moisturizers and strip the skin of its protection, leaving it vulnerable to infection. Alcohols destroy skin’s pH balance, and since they absorb water, they speed up wrinkling.

    * FD%26amp;C – When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not food. D%26amp;C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors. They’re toxic and should be avoided when at all possible.

    * Dioxane – Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”. Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.

IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and Tell ALL your friends and family!!! (Extra-virgin olive and/or coconut oils are great alternative moisturizers, and they contain natural sunscreens, until you find something else without these toxins) Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!!!!After exfoliating my face, what else do I need to do?
    Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize.
    moisturize.

    use an oil-free moisturizer.

    Exfoliating face ?

i wash %26amp; moisturize my face like normal .. but once winter comes, it`s like all my acne products stop working. i get random dry spots all over my face .. it`s flaky %26amp; it`s nasty. the only spot on my face that isn`t dry during winter are my cheeks ! i heard that exfoliating helps ? can anyone tell me more about exfoliating %26amp; something to keep the nasty dry flaky things from appearing ?Exfoliating face ?
I have beautiful skin and even my doctors tell me that. I wash with Noxema in the morning leaving it on 5 minutes or so before rinsing with cool water and at night I exfoliate with St Ives Apricot scrub which is cheap. As a moisturizer go to Walmarts and get the Equate brand of moisturizing lotion. It's the one like Oil of Olay but theirs is thicker and costs a lot less. Use the St Ives Blue clay mask once ot twice a week, too. That should stop the flakes. Are you sure it's acne and not roseacea? I had roseacea and my face flaked like crazy. If that's the case you will need Metrogel instead of the acne stuff and a short round of antibiotics.

Is there a way to exfoliate your face without using sandpaper or grainy scrubs?

My skin is very sensitive and gets red when I scrub it too harshly, but I also have major flaky skin on my forehead, nose, and chin. Are there any products for sensitive skin that can help remove the flaky skin without harsh scrubbing? Is there a way to exfoliate your face without using sandpaper or grainy scrubs?
dove has a face wash for about $5Is there a way to exfoliate your face without using sandpaper or grainy scrubs?
I used exfoliaters in the past like you, and my skin became very irritated (and many times it would break out into acne). From my experience, the ingredients in the scrubs are too harsh for the skin.

Here is what I do now to reap a similar ';exfoliater'; type of experience for my skin:

    1. After cleansing the face (and before moisturizing), use a clean hand sized towel to gently ';buff'; the facial and neck skin in upward circular motions. When you touch your skin and it feels soft, you know you've done the job effectively. You can do this simple technique everyday and it won't irritate your skin.

    2. You can also do these techniques 1-2 times a week: Mash an avacado on your face and allow it to stay on your skin for 20-30 minutes. Or, you could mix together honey and straweberries and apply to the face. Let it stay on your skin for 10-20 minutes.

The possibilities are endless, but try these two simple techniques out to see how you like it. Hope this helps!
Proactive works good but is a bit expensive
sand blaster will take care of the skin problem but you won't like the results or pain
I have rosacea and am unable to exfoliate because of the severity of my skin. Eucerin makes wonderful products for people with sensitive skin along with the ability to gently exfoliate. The products can be a little on the high end of your drug store buys but it's helped me to control my condition (and was recommended by my dermatologist)
    Microdermabrasion kit for sensitive skin...

Follow with cetaphil cleansers... they are non comodogenic (wont clog your pores) and therefore, easy on the skin.
Try St Ives peach scrub for sensitive skin. I have tried EVERYTHING and this is the only exfoliate I have ever used that works properly. Good Luck!
When you scrub actually you should not be able to feel it working .. like st Ive's and harsh stuff like that can give you broken capillaries if you are not wanted to buy something expensive i would just buy some exfoliating gloves and use a gel scrub ... good luck
I have been using baking soda mixed with a face wash (I use a Nivea liquid cream because it doesn't dry my face out) for about 15 years now. It beats everything I've ever used, including commercial (expensive) products. I've tried sugar, salt, oatmeal, etc., and have found that baking soda is kinder to the face and gives me great results and is very inexpensive. I do this twice a week in the shower. Good Luck!
Yea try the Buf Puf. Its an exfoliating pad that you can use to GENTLY exfoliate your skin. Its not too rough. I use it and I have sensitive/dry skin also. You can get it at walmart for about $3.00. Make sure you use a moisturizer after that or you skin will be really tight and dry and it will start to flake.

    Hope this helps.
I foundl that using a 1%BHA cream meant that I could use things on my face that would normally irrotate my skin and not see any irrotation at all but if I stopped using it then the irrotation would return. Paula's Choice do a good one, you have to make sure it is the right ph level to work. BHA is intended to stimulate cell renewal.

I used to suffer from occasional dry flaky and uneven spells but since I've been using it I've been fine.
    olive oil with sugar.
There are terrific products out there on the market specifically designed for sensitive skin.

Biotherm is an awesome product, it's unscented, but very expensive too, so if cost is a factor, you could try other cheaper products mentioned further on as you read this.

Stay away from heavily scented creams for your face as they generally have a high content of alcohol in them, and this is a drying factor for your skin.

There is many household items you could try as well, cheap, efficient, and work great.

Try an oatmeal and milk scrub, yes, mix oatmeal with milk, portion the amount to the size of your face, and mix together, apply and leave for 20 minutes, rinse well with lukewarm water, and presto, a nice clean face.

Always apply a good moisturizer, such as almay, biotherm, roc, clinique, but always unscented.

    Good luck.
You could use MATIS peeling cream for delicate %26amp; sensitie skin,

or mix 1 table spoon of brown sugar and almond oil, and do a massage to the area, but not to stong.
Its great to exfoliate, however in your case...maybe you should let your skin rest a little? And instead put moisturizer on your face because the scrubs and even washing your face with soap will dry out your skin (even more so during the colder months of the year) so, go look for a daily face lotion for sensitive skin. I know that Clinque has some great products for sensitive skin and even Dove has a really great line of daily products that are sensitve and gentle enough to use on daily basis....Oh and breaks from all this stuff is good for your skin....all the chemicals might be drying our your skin. If you still have problems....go to your local health food store...maybe they can find you something more natural and less harsh on your skin.

    Hope this helps !

How do you exfoliate the face without irritating the skin?

If a person has a breakout, how do they exfoliate without aggravating it even further?....How do you exfoliate the face without irritating the skin?
Use a cold compress to calm the skin where the break outs are. You can mix a bit of baking soda and some water, make it into a paste-like substance, and use that to gently exfoliate your skin. Use your finger tips and GENTLY massage in small circles on your face. Hope this helps. How do you exfoliate the face without irritating the skin?
Wait till the breakout stops. Use chemical exfoliators. The brand DDF on Sephora.com has some. Ingredients like glycolic acid, etc.

I recommend seeing a dermatologist if you're constantly breaking out.

Exfoliation certainly helps prevent some zits, it doesn't do anything for existing zits, though.
I have very sensitive and acne prone skin. Heres what I do:

I wash my face first with Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub It's good to use warm water with a washcloth and dab your face with it. The i use St Ives Swiss Formula Apricot Scrub Invigorating For All Skin Types. I then dab my face with kind of cold water. The reason why you use warm and then cold is because the warm loosens up pores and the cold shuts them tight! It works like a charm. I also use proactive too. For a mask you could use St Ives Firming Massk Mieral Clay For all Skin Types. It's cool because it shows you your pores!
Alba organics makes a GREAT exfoliant, called Papaya Enzyme Facial Mask. It's great for any skin type.
    gently
if you have sensitive skin you only scrub area less than 60 seeconds and rinse with warm water and pat dry with towel not rub and then lotion it. http://cgarcia1.qbeautyzone.com/products鈥?/a>

    1.

Apply Artistry Polishing Scrub (without water) to clean, dry skin.

    2.

Wet the MicroExfoliation Cloth and gently polish the skin in a circular motion, using approximately 6 strokes per area (less if skin is sensitive).

    3.

Rinse skin thoroughly with warm water, pat dry.

    4.

    Rinse the MicroExfoliation Cloth.

    5.

Apply Artistry Skin Refinishing Lotion and your favorite Artistry treatment products and moisturizer.

Use 2鈥? times weekly or less often if skin is sensitive. Do not apply to delicate tissue around the eyes or on broken skin. The Artistry MicroExfoliation Cloth is not intended for use with chemical exfoliants or peels. Allow some time after exfoliation before applying products containing vitamin A derivatives or retinols.

What can I use to exfoliate my face that is gentle?

I have sensitive skin and roseaca. I use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer and it works great, as well as any expensive products that I have used. What can I use to exfoliate my face that is gentle?
Lush - Angels on Bare Skin! It's chemical-free, so it won't irritate sensitive skin. I have sensitive and extremely acne-prone skin. It's natural and it exfoliates so nicely as it's not too harsh or abrasive. My face feels so moisturized and clean after AOBS.What can I use to exfoliate my face that is gentle?
Noxema Exfoiliating Scrub. You can get it at target. They have a whole collection with acne cream as well. It is in a blue bottle
Try St Ives apricot scrub, I swear by it and I have fairly sensitive skin!
whip up two egg whites until its all fluffy (you should be able to turn the bowl upside down and it wont fall out) and then add a handful of porridge oats. A natural scrub thats reeeeeeally gentle and leaves your face feeling super soft.
The best exfoliant you can use is sugar! Add some sugar to your facial cleanser and apply to your skin...Sugar is a gentle exfoliant because the grains are so small it will not harm your skin!
    ^^ that one works good.
    You could try:

Using 1 to 2 tablespoons of oatmeal with water. Apply it on the skin and leave it for up to twenty minutes before rinsing.

    To treat rosecea:

Eat loads of fish and vegetables.

    Reduce your sugar intake.

Drink Alkaline Water. At least 10 glasses a day.

Avoid stimulants such as tea, coffee, alchohol and cigarettes.

    Avoid hot baths.

    Use gentle soaps.

    Excercise.

    Manage your weight.

    Sleep.

    Apply moisturizer.

    Avoid sun overexposure.
Clean and clear exfoliate is what i use and i love it =)
I used papaya kojic base soap which are

available online. I heard of licorice base soap

also but I haven't tried it yet.

    Try google 'shopaholic's bargains'

    It work wonders.

What are reasons for using an Exfoliating (face wash) scrub on your face?

    Just for acne?

I have a face wash that 'gently exfoliates for smooth and even skin.'

BUT it says it has an Acne Medication in it (2% Salicylic Acid.)

I have never had acne, should I not use this face wash? Will it dry my skin out?

I just wanted to exfoliate my face because I'm in the sun a lot and I wanted to exfoliate the skin ..

Will the 'acne medication' mess up my face?

(it's an over the counter face wash)What are reasons for using an Exfoliating (face wash) scrub on your face?
To wash off 'dead' skin cells!!!

For years, I have used ';St.Ives Apricot 'Invigorating' Facial Scrub';, everyday!!!

It works, but I don't know about using it after being in the sun so much!!! (I can't be in the sun too much--%26amp; don't--because my complexion is too 'light'!!!)

They do make it for 'sensitive' skin, as well as other types of facial cleanser!!!

Good luck!!! Let me know!!!What are reasons for using an Exfoliating (face wash) scrub on your face?
    Thanks for 'Best Answer'!!!

I firmly believe in its use--it makes your face %26amp; neck skin feel wonderful!!!

I use it everyday, in the shower, and wash my face in cold water every morning!!! Report Abuse

The benefit of exfoliation is that it removes the dead layer of skin cells and gives you a deep clean.

I would be a little wary about using a product with Acne Medication, 'though, if you don't have acne. I think it could cause dryness. There are exfoliating cleansers that don't have Salicyclic Acid.

the first layer of your skin is the epidermis...when your skin cells fall off it stimulates your body to produce more cells...

exfoliation just stimulates the production of fresh new skin cells.

over the counter acne medicines most of the time do not have sucess. salicylic acids and other topical remedies only act on your epidermis while the underlying cause of acne is deeper...most likely this product will just dry you out causing oil ducts to produce more and more which might actually cause you a few unwanted break outs....
if its something you bought at a drugstore like nutrogena... it never hurts altho typically it should dry out your skin....

but if its over the counter... STAY AWAY!

if you want to exfoliate your skin....

its best to use scrubs... (a cleanser with many salt like beads)

this stuff is AMAZING! wats so great about it... is that it makes your sin brighter, more alive, softer, cleaner....

it gets gunk out of your pores, it clears the dead skin cells (which being in the sun a lot does to your skin), it smooths your skin, makes it healhy...

anything by this company works wonders...

i had terrble skin so my dermatoligist recomended it... and my skin is looking better then ever!!!

exfoliating the face increases blood circulation and helps encourage cell regeneration. The salicylic acid will keep your pores clean and even though you don't have pimples this will keep your pores from turning dark or your skin from becoming uneven. use it but no more than once or twice a day.
2% wont make a huge difference, you should be fine. The Salicylic Acid works as an defoliator.
    no it won't ..

Its kinda like protection too to ur face skin ...

Exfoliate ur face removes any dead cells too ..

    Way to go gurl =))
Well if it is a product that is used for Acne, I would not suggest it, if you don't have acne. I would get a face wash to use daily. If you are not having any adverse effects keep using.

This is what salicylic acid does

Also known as 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, one of several beta hydroxy acids (compare to AHA), salicylic acid is a key ingredient in many skin-care products for the treatment of acne, psoriasis, calluses, corns, keratosis pilaris, and warts. It works by causing the cells of the epidermis to shed more readily, preventing pores from clogging up, and allowing room for new cell growth. Because of its effect on skin cells, salicylic acid is used in several shampoos used to treat dandruff. Salicylic acid is also used as an active ingredient in gels which remove warts. Use of concentrated solutions of salicylic acid may cause hyper pigmentation on pretreated skin for those with darker skin types (Fitzpatrick photo types IV, V, VI), as well as with the lack of use of a broad spectrum sunblock.[5][6]

The medicinal properties of salicylic, mainly for fever relief, have been known since ancient times, and it was used as an anti-inflammatory drug.[7]

Cotton pads soaked in salicylic acid can be used to chemically exfoliate skin

Cotton pads soaked in salicylic acid can be used to chemically exfoliate skin

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid or ASA) can be prepared by the esterification of the phenolic hydroxyl group of salicylic acid.

Subsalicylate in combination with bismuth form the popular stomach relief aid known commonly as Pepto-Bismol. When combined, the two key ingredients help control diarrhea, nausea, heartburn, and gas. It is also a very mild antibiotic.

Choline salicylate is used topically to relieve the pain of aphthous ulcers.

What is the proper way to exfoliate the face? If you are a guy and shave do you still need to exfoliate?

I've heard so many different ways with contradictions for all of them. Should you use cleansers with beads or not? Sea salt or not? Acids or not? How many times a week? What is the proper way to exfoliate the face? If you are a guy and shave do you still need to exfoliate?
Use an exfoliator that you feel works for you. I prefer the Lactic acid exfoliators but I used to really love the ones with beads. I loved Aveeno Daily Brightening Scrub. If you have a problem with in-grown hairs when you shave then exfoliating after you shave will help with that. Also washing your face with a cleanser that has salicylic acid will also help prevent that. Find an exfoliator that you like with salicylic acid and you will have great, soft skin! What is the proper way to exfoliate the face? If you are a guy and shave do you still need to exfoliate?
I never heard of cleansers with beads, sea salt or acids.

When a guy shaves his face with a shaver (with blade) he exfoliates that part of his face. When a female shaves her legs she exfoliates her legs. There used to be loofas that a person could use on their body to exfoliate dead skin, there are also soft brushes for the body, and there are bars of soap (avon used to make an exfoliator). I prefer ';Apricot Scrub by St. Ives'; because it makes your face and body feel sooooo soft after using it, and I use it every 3 or 4 months like a soap during my bath.
yes, when a guy shaves with a bladed razor, the part of his face that he shaves is exfoliated...but the rest of the face/skin is not exfoliated, so those areas would still need to be done.
I'll give you an answer from experience... Exfoliate every night with St. Ives Gentle Hypoallergenic Apricot Scrub. It's gentle enough to use every day and it won't dry out your skin. I swear by it.

What product do you use to exfoliate your face and body? how often do you exfoliate?

depending on weather, I use CLINIQUE exfoliating scrub for my face about once a week. I make sure to use a moisturizer after toner too.

as i am caucasian, i dont even no how to spell it, i expoliate once a week becuase otherwise, my beauty therapist told me, my skin will become broken and damged becuase i have very fine skin. Indiginious people can exfoliate their skin more often (every three days) becuase theyre skin is tougher. Hope that helpedWhat product do you use to exfoliate your face and body? how often do you exfoliate?
i use these products called JAFRA they give an inevitable glow and a consultant comes right to your door and gives you something for your particular type of skin. My sister and I all got different types of products suggested and we all have radiant skin!!!!!! Really!

  • What is a good way to exfoliate my face at home? Or any at home facials?

My face needs a day of beauty. My pores are clogged and my skin is really dry. I want to pamper myself with any home remedies or creams i can purchase at drug stores with out going to an expensive spa. What is a good way to exfoliate my face at home? Or any at home facials?
Soak some rolled oats (oatmeal) in warm water. Using a soft cloth, gently scrub your face with the meal and rinse well. Keep the water in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to two days to use as a soothing wash after removing makeup at night.

You can purchase French clay at many drug stores and most health food stores now. Mix this up to a soft paste using clean water or the oat water and use as a masque. Let dry to pull impurities and clean the pores. You will need to moisturize afterward, but your skin will feel wonderful!

To moisturize get a soft (but not bruised) avocado and mash to a smooth paste. Use this as a masque, warm or cold. Lie down with some good music, put cucumber slices over your eyes and relax for 30 minutes or so. Wash with warm water and gentle soap or cleanser.

This works well for damaged hair too! Just make a paste, add a little olive oil to thin and work through your hair. Wrap your hair in plastic to hold in heat if you have serious drying and splits or use a towel for average hair. Allow at least a couple of hours before shampooing out and conditioning as usual.

One of the best skin moisturizers is plain old lard that you buy at the grocery store. Use it (very lightly) at night and wash your face with warm water and a dab of oats in the morning. On the very dry areas you can rub a very little in for 'day wear' too. If you use make up though, it can be too 'heavy' and cause clogging of the pores.

My grandmother used it all her life and when she died at 92, she still had beautiful skin! What is a good way to exfoliate my face at home? Or any at home facials?
Many products out in the market contain mineral oil. Mineral oil clogs your pores. So while you think you are using a great treatment you are actually clogging your pores and defeating the purpose. The best exfoliant I have found is ARbonne Thermal Fusion Exfoliating Enzyme Masque. It is heat activated to purify and get the cirulation moving in your skin. It is heavenly. You scrub it like a regular exfoliant then you add water which activates the heat scrub a little more and then leave it for a couple of minutes. You won't believe the difference it will make. It is affordable! If you have any questions please let me know.
I use St. Ives apricot scrub. I've been using it for years, and I like it a lot. It's also cheap.
you can make a make up to have a good looking
I work for a Agriculture company that has been very good to me. 1 year our sister company sent all the females a x-mas gift. The products was called Ahava. I looked at it because I never heard of it. I decided to used it because it was a skin care gift pack. I did my research and started using it and swear by it now.

The best thing secret I learned was to add regular white sugar to my cleanser, making a paste. This is the BEST exfoliant I have ever used. It makes your skin super smooth, and you don't run the risk of having a bad reaction to a new product. Just make sure you only exfoliate twice a week.

How to exfoliate my face the best way?

Please be specific. %26amp; How many times a week should I exfoliate, while using nothing but Dove bar soap once everyday to wash my face. Any tips / suggestions. How to exfoliate my face the best way?
    st. ives apricot exfoliator.

Use 3x a week or as directed on the product. How to exfoliate my face the best way?
Use an exfoliating scrub (I have St Ives Apricot Scrub) 2-3 times a week. It's really up to you how often you do it, but it CAN be too abrasive for your skin if you use it too often. You'll know when too much is too much.

What I do is I squeeze out some of the stuff and apply it to a section of my face, scrub that section very thoroughly, then apply some more to a different section and scrub again. Concentrate on the nose, cheeks and chin. Basically wherever you have blackheads or clogged pores.

Use a cleanser every other day. Or you can use your soap if you wish, just cleanser is especially formulated to remove makeup, dirt and oil thoroughly from your skin and some are also for blemish control (eg Biore Blemish Control Ice Cleanser).
I exfoliate with sugar it gives you a natural glow.

    Homemade exfoliating face scrub??

I have oily skin, pimples, pimple scars, blackheads, AND large pores!! right now, i wash my face 3 times a day with spectrogel face wash and i use Biore moisturizing cream for oily skin ( and its supposed to minimize the appearance of large pores) ..

and if it is..does anyone know anyone simple homemade scrubs, and toners?? because i dont want to have to spend a fortune on it!!Homemade exfoliating face scrub??
I don't use any homemade scrubs, but I use apple cider vinegar for toner and it works really well for me!

I just use the wal-mart brand of exfoliation and it works good for me... and then sometimes maybe twice a week I'll use noxema, but you can get that for a 1 to 1.50 top.

How often should I exfoliate my face?

I use The ST. Ives Apricot scrub. I do this about 2 to 3 times a week. Should I be doing it more - like every other day? Also, are those electric rotating circular brushes even better for exfoliating the face and if so, which one is best? Does exfoliating really do anything to make the face younger looking as opposed to just making it feel soft? Thanks. How often should I exfoliate my face?
Please throw away the apricot scrub. You are doing more harm then you know. Its like taking sand paper to your face.

You need to find an exfoliater that has ROUND granules. This way it is not tearing apart your skin and its actually helping.

If you are mega oily, exfoliating 3 times a week is enough. The more you exfoliate, the more layers of skin you are taking off. It wont take the layers off and make you look younger...

If you want to appear younger it takes proper skincare, using an SPF of 25 or higher every day and avoid tanning beds. Along with proper sleep and diet.

Its more than just a scrub for your face.

If you want a great scrub that is super cheap, try Clinique's 7 day scrub, if you dont mind spending a few extra dollars for quality try Dior's Grains De Magie.

Please make sure after you exfoliate that you are not going directly into the sun or a tanning bed and ALWAYS use SPF.How often should I exfoliate my face?
i love to exfoliate my skin i use a exfoliate for my body almost every day now for my face may every two day because you don't want to over exfoliate because our face are expose more than our body's and the whether make your skin to venerable to the ultra violets and all that bad stuff out there so make sure you know your skin an moisturize and wear your sunscreen good luck

    Is exfoliating your face important..?

In young people, the skin cells turn over quicky, and the skin exfoliates itself continually. As people get past their adolescence and are ';grown,'; even in the 20s, the skin renews itself more and more slowly, and it begins to need help removing the dead surface cells.

People with acne benefit from gentle exfoliating, regardless of their age, as acne is a result of a combination of things that plug the pores, including dead cells. Alpha hydroxy acid products help loosen those dead cells and oil plugs and so work well as an aide to exfoliation.

In young people, a soft cotton wash cloth with a facial cleanser is enough to buff away any superficial dead cells that haven't fallen off on their own yet. Cotton is important vs. cotton-poly blend, because polyester rubbed on skin creates irritation, like a rug burn. Stick with soft cotton. I use baby wash cloths for my own facial care.

After exfoliating, an oil free moisturizer puts a barrier between the environment and that smooth, fresh skin surface and helps it retain the moisture that makes it petal soft.Is exfoliating your face important..?
yes.....you need all that dead skin to come of your faceIs exfoliating your face important..?
It helps get rid of dead skin on the surface. Makes your skin look fresher and brighter. Not all people need to exfoliate, though. If you have very sensitive skin, it's better to skip any kind of harsh products like that.
For me it is important. My face looks so clear and refreshed after I exfoliate. I like to use dove nutrium soap or Cetaphil face wash and mix it with sugar until you get the consistency that you like and scrub small circles all over face and rinse with cool water. Ahhhhhhh so refreshing and renewed. Followed with mositurizer and in the morning your skin will be sooo pretty.
    BAD!

it irritates that skin SOOOO much!

rarely, RARELY exfoliate your skin and if you do, very lightly.
It is, but you shouldn't use the harsh, grainy scrubs. Find something with ';beads'; or just a bit of salicylic acid. If you have flaky skin, use it 3 times a week. If your skin is normal, once a week is fine. I didn't start exfoliating till I hit 23 and my skin started looking dullish.
It depends because if you like your face to feel clean then yes...

I have tiny holes on my face... will exfoliating them get rid of them?

I really think It looks ugly. So will exfoliation work? and what does it mean to exfoliate? Where will I be able to uy kits and stuff and how much does it cost?I have tiny holes on my face... will exfoliating them get rid of them?
Are you talking about your pores?

You can't get rid of them, but you can make them less noticeable by cleaning them out (wash your face and use pore strips occasionally..)

If you're not talking about your pores I have no idea what's going on...I have tiny holes on my face... will exfoliating them get rid of them?
These tiny little holes have a scientific name. They are called pores. I exfoliate mine by rubbing Bengay all over my face. It really gives you that ';tingly'; feeling and your face will thank you for it.
Okay first those are pores and everyone has them, second exfoliating wont really help, exfoliating is the when you get like a face or body wash that has little ruff beads in them or a loafa or something, and it gets the dry dead skin off you body.
I think you're thinking of pores. Trust me you don't want to get rid of them. If they look black, you probably have blackheads and can get various astringents and creams at a drug store to clear it up
those are your pores. you can buy a pore refining mask at the drug store and see if that helps
    momo, you so crazy
did u get shot in the face with buckshot maybe ?there ur pores i cant believe u put this on answers
