Will exfoliating break my face out?

my face is very prone to acne and i am just starting to get it cleared up and it needs to be exfoliated but im scared if i exfoliate it now it will turn back into the scariness that it was. Ps. the exfoliator I own, which is a perfect night treatment for acne is clinique exfoliator( in the green squeeze bottle). Please help because I want to go back to school pretty. This shouldnt cause you to break out, the only reason for it to harm your skin is if you use it wrong, too often, or if you're allergic to anything inside of it.

Exfoliating should not break your face out. It actually clears the pores and smoothes the skin, while cleansing and removing bacteria. But, the ingredients in your exfoliator can cause breakouts.





Some chemical ingredients cause excessively dry skin or cause the skin cells to actually damage. The skin, a living organ, tries to stabilize itself, by either producing more sebum or trying to repair stressed areas. Be careful what you use. You may need to make your own exfoliator. Try mixing 1 tablespoon organic sugar with 1 teaspoon Aloe Vera Gel, and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Or, try natural exfoliators from Beauty 4 Ashes or Aubrey Organics.
